As to your point, I do think there is something to being in an organization/on a team that is expecting to win, as opposed to hoping you won't lose

I have no statistics, but I think once you become a perennial loser, it is really difficult to break out of that cycle

You can't win every year, but I do think you can lose many, many years if you are not careful in demanding the proper effort and excellence

If I was a team that really matters anted Semin, I would have called Carolina and offered them a 7th pick if they retain 2.5M of his salary.

One big thing that might be underrated in terms of Gagner on the PP, he can set up along the LW wall like Giroux and QB Avery effectively just because he's a righty shot. A lefty on that wall has fewer easy options, where everything flows easier for a righty.

Gagner was also a very effective ES producer for Arizona

I just don't think there was anything better in FA -- it's a really lackluster group this year, and if Gagner gets 40-ish points, I'm not entirely certainly that won't be the most, or close to the most, any of these FAs get

Some kids you send back because they are clearly not physically ready. But Provorov, and Konechny too, looked absolutely freaking ripped

Again: I've not seen any of these kids play a single shift. Not one

But I guess I'd be stunned if Provorov gets rag-dolled out there -- that kid looks ready to rock, physically

I'm still kind of holding out hope for Chris Stewart. I'm sure many of you aren't high on him and there might not even be a real fit but I like the guy. Toughness, gritty, might help the second unit on the PP.

What makes you think he believes he made a mistake signing that contract? Have you seen what he's done in the Pitt? He's a gift.

Besides, he can now get Semin on a 1yr Ehrhoff contract. He loves those too.
