Ok, here it goes, my top 10 all time NHL playmakers list. Note, this only covers players that I've actually seen play so don't expect to see Howie Morenz or Syl Apps on the list!

Away we go!!

1. Wayne Gretzky
Yeah, hands up, who's surprised?.....Anyone?

2. Mario Lemieux
Next to Gretz, the best playmaker I ever saw.

3. Bobby Orr
No one could run a PP like Orr. He simply did everything well

4. Peter Forsberg
I swear the dude had eyes in the back of his head. Unreal passer.

5. Adam Oates
Doesn't get enough credit for just how well he set guys up.

6. Paul Coffey
Not much of a defender, but man could he make plays with the puck. The amount of pure talent on those mid 80s Oilers teams was just sick.

7. Bobby Clarke
Made everyone who ever played with him better and no one ever worked harder.

8. Bryan Trottier
Another fine passer and extremely smart player

9. Stan Mikita
Only caught the end of his career, but even then he was still a fantastic playmaker.

10. Ron Francis
Having Lemieux and Francis as your top 2 centers just isn't fair.

Some others who were in the running:
Marcel Dionne
Ray Bourque
Jari Kurri
Joe Thornton

Hey Marc, I think I recommended them. Glad you enjoyed them!
Edit: if you haven't read Patrick Rothfuss "the Name of the wind" also well worth it. Much shorter series which will leave you wanting more but well worth it.

Rothfuss rocks!! I hope he gets another book out soon!

No, he wanted Gibson. But I agree. But, a 1-2 punch of Mason/Gibson would be nice.
- jmatchett383

Isn't Gibson starter material though?

If you want a change to excellent Sci Fi I also recommend the Vorkosigan series by Lois McMaster Bujold. So fun to read!

I am beginning to question your reading skills. I said Gibson is my target from Anaheim

No need for the hostility. I don't believe that was especially clear in your post, but I could be wrong.

Its been reported that Saad is very unhappy with the trade. Speculation that there was a disconnect with his agent. Winning was more important than dollars for him.
- JFlyers00

playing with Ryan Johansen and scoring 30 goals a season may mitigate this somewhat
