The main thing is that everyone talks about the Flyers seeing Player A as such. But that was with Holmgren as GM. I know that maybe a lot hasn't changed but with Hextall now in charge, Player A might not hold the same value as he once did.

Using Mason as an example. Maybe Hextall thinks he is just a mediocre goalie and maybe he sees something better in Gibson or some other goalie. Maybe he doesn't see Laughton like others did.

That was more my point. So if a guy like Read or Laughton or Simmonds was moved it wouldn't be a total shock as the new GM might have different feeling on those players.

Thanks for the clarification. I don't disagree about the skaters you mentioned, aside from Mason. I think it is unlikely that any of them will be moved, but certainly plausible now that Hextall has had a season to check them out.

And I admit Mason would be a huge surprise. Just saying with the weak FA market, more trades might happen and players we thought were valuable might not hold the same value in Hextall's eyes.

“We each put six guys up on the board who we thought would be taken in the first six,” said Flyers’ QMJHL crossover scout Todd Hearty. “We ran down a couple of mock drafts, and the more you looked at it…I could see Provorov dropping to us because you heard Arizona was not wanting to take the defenceman.”

The Coyotes made it known they may move down a few spots, but the asking price was high as there were no guarantees the player(s) they coveted would not be taken.

Last night I had a message from some one who knows the Flyers well and said Hextall has an offer for either Buff or Engstrom on the table. The offer was unclear but it did involve Amac as the 'favour' in the deal with other pieces. A second source said they had heard of 'talks' between the club. So take that for what it's worth, wild speculation based on some iffy info. That's not a shot at the sources just a reality check on the evidence presented. I always like getting this info because that's the fun in all of this and let's just remember- it's supposed to be fun.
