Thats true. Maybe he might be more valuable by next season. Toronto is clearly dismantling their old core and I think Phaneuf as captain has to be moved. I think Toronto's management realizes the team needs better leadership and a new voice

The answer is "Who cares..."

I don't see how this works out for the Pens. It's so much money committed to only 4 players. Their bottom 6 and bottom 4 defenseman are going to be crushed

I agree. The Pens always needed better depth and signing Kessel doesnt address that need. They have enough high priced star players.

However, if some how in some way this works out for them, people will be praising Rutherford for his moves. I doubt that it will work though

They have a nice looking first line for two years down the road.

They have some really solid forward prospects with Marner and Nylander especially and Reilly looks like a solid young defenseman to build around
