$6.5...OK. Yeah, they couldn't pay that

Of course, I do distinctly recall saying that the "why" they wouldn't be able to pay something like that was gonna be the salaries they dropped on Toews/Kane, but it's gonna be like that

They had to know that, going in, that teams around the league weren't going to give them all day to get their fiscal house in order

- AllInForFlyers

Dano could be an absolute stud, and they could probably flip Anisimov, Morin and Trpp for picks.

The key is Dano. if he reaches his full potential, this could be a great deal for the Hawks.

Interesting that you left out the most important player who contributed to their turnaround
- PhillySportsGuy

Yeah -- the goalie who came in and won 28 games for a playoff team his first year in North America, who, though he struggled his second year, still came from a team that expected to win

Would you rather have Nikolai Zherdev or Scott Hartnell?

Both LWs, both top 6 draft choices

One's a loser, the other's a winner -- or are you gonna argue that Hartnell is "more talented" than Zherdev?

Because the way you sound right now, you'd run Zherdev and Alexander Semin out there ahead of Michael Raffl

Getting a 1st, 2nd, and a 3rd would've been a better deal than what they got from Columbus.

And Ron Hextall doesnt have a single sheet to give.

- Doc_Sarcasm

I wouldn't sheet anyone if I was Hextall, not right now. In a couple/few years, maybe.

Yeah, a late round first is far better than a 19 year old kid who scored 21 points in 35 NHL games last season.

If the Sixers signed Aldridge, Butler and Patrick Beverly, they would still suck because they sucked before

Like when the celtics sucked for 5 years then got Garnett and Allen and immediately won the championship

- PhillySportsGuy

I'm really excited about Okefer and Noel in the front court. Got some more decent pieces also. A huge step in the right direction.

I think their cap situation is pretty ugly right now. I really miss capgeek.

I'm only on facebook to see when his kids are hitting him with icecream, cake or pie or squirting him with the hose. I'd pay to see that on ice. Absolutely.

Flyers turned a late first round pick and a 2nd into Konecny. He must not be any good. Strange that some were very high on him

In any sport it's not just about collecting talent. It's about collecting players that are a fit and compliment each other to form a team, not just a collection of talent.
- MJL

Drafting for need in the 76ers situation would be impossible. They need everything. They also need 2 of these top picks to turn into stars.

Here's the thing: If it's true an offer sheet was out there, and you wanted roster players back, then maybe that's the best you could get with less than a day until FA starts

But at the same time, I don't know that they managed this very well -- they had to know what Saad was looking for, they were just at the draft last week, and they should've tried a little harder to move 34-year-old Patrick Sharp than betting on Marko Dano

That's just how I see that one -- if you're gonna play with fire like this with those high-end salaries, then you'd better be ready to move old players and not be Richarding around

Going to be tough to get top end FAs for a while until they are more legit.
