I love Shattenkirk, but I could see then dealing him if they get a big return. His value has to be sky high, especially with two more years cap friendly.
Personally I would rather they look at trading Petro over Shatty, but getting a big return would be nice. - carcus
Thought about that as well (Petro) but I think over the long haul Pietrangelo has more upside and will eventually develop into a superior defenseman. Right now, I think Shatty is better.
Bottom line for me is they both are slotted into their proper places with the Blues, so I'd rather build around them as opposed to moving one of them. |

Petro was the best D in the playoffs by a wide margin. having said that, the bold is spot on.

Yes, I would rather keep them both as well.
But if they are looking to make some big changes and need to move a guy for a big return, one of those two makes a lot of sense in that scenerio.
I would hope that they are seriously looking to deal Backes. Lucic just got a pretty big return when you look at the deal the Bruins then flipped with the goalie. (drawing a blank on the name right now) |

I don't think it is a big deal.
He can name like 6 teams he can't be traded to. I am sure there are at least few locations he really doesn't want to go to based on either the city or the team being bad.
So then the rest of the NHL would be fair game. If the Blues want to move Berglund, I don't think his NTC will keep them from doing it since it is so limited. |

He also just tweeted that the price was "EXTREMELY HIGH" for Shatty and that he was "shocked" by one of the names the Blues asked for in return. Gotta think that was either RNH or Giroux. |

Got to say, I am really happy about the Lehtera signing. Partially because I quickly became a fan and got one of the new road white jerseys with his name last November.
And I think him and Tarasenko are going to be very good together for a very long time with the Blues. |

Earlier, I thought it was half a mil or more above market value but today's gm tilts will make me eat those words. Really good player to be certain and a great fit on the team. |

I'm glad I am not alone in thinking most of these contracts are too high for many of the players receiving them. Not all, but many. |

The price goes up when you are no longer in RFA years.
This deal is going to look like a steal if him and Tarasenko continue to play together.
He was a point per game player early in the year with Tarasenko in his first year in the NHL. He hit a wall and slowed down, but going forward he is going to be able to produce at a high level with Tarasenko sniping the way he does. |

Most Russian, College, etc players hit that wall you are talking about. Expect Eichel to hit it next year. They are not used to the grind of the season and it stalls them at some point in the year. It also shows them that while they thought they were well conditioned, they weren't in good enough shape. |

Martin Jones.
I will be honest Carcus. And I'm not just saying this as a Kings/Dean Lombardi/Darryl Sutter supporter....
The Sharks are desperate. They completely overpaid for Jones. The GMs job is on the line and it shows with this trade and the PAY jones got from San Jose.
Jones is a very good backup and solid at times in net. But the Sharks are a desperate team right now. Ben Scrivens looks like a better NHL goalie....in all honestly. |
