It's a rebuild that should have been done 10 years ago in a tough market.

I'm actually a little impressed. Sadly this has probably been the most beneficial off-season they've had in a decade. And by beneficial, I mean, no idiotic long term contracts on mediocre players.

i think that's the point about the bar being set low. teams do this all the time. none of them get the praise we've seen go Shanahan and Dubas' way. it's a remarkable phenomenon.

Well yes Adam...the bar has been set low. The last 10 years of doing the exact opposite of what they are doing now has set that.

Thus...me being impressed that they are finally doing right.

Not sure what the point you and Marty are trying to make is? BTW if a rebuilding team was in the same market as Toronto, following the same 10 year history, you would see that praise

Total revamp of the management team too. No cronyism and special appointments for failures (see MacTavish)
- twiztedmike

They did that with Burke.

This time they actually have to balls to purposely ice a crap team and not look for the quick fix.

It's refreshing.

I'm considering a trip to Calgary for the sole purpose of eating a steak.

The price of beef around here this summer is (frank)ing insane. Lobster is more affordable FFS!

It's not cheap here either, $11 for a pound of god damn hamburger at Sobeys.

Also, Ruth's Chris has a decent steak in Edm.

Or order these buggers

You just can't stand to see us happy.

Ontario has always gotten more attention than Quebec. Obviously you're just jealous. This is a heritage-pride issue and you let it creep into hockey.

I really wanted to eat a steak the other day.

Then I realized it would cost me $100 for the family.... Unbelievable.

at IGA last week i went to the fish counter and asked for 4 shrimp. 4. they were regular shrimp. not that big. guy packages them for me and labels it. $12. $12 for 4 raw shrimp. i gave it back to him. it was embarrassing to do but i couldn't have lived with myself paying $12 for 4 shrimp. that's more than a 6-pack of beer.
