He's filling your hole.

Drafting an army of midgets
Giving away Kessel
Not trading Phaneuf
Most of their signings.
etc etc.

- WaterBoy

They got a first, a first from the year before and a servicable body for Kessel.
If that was suggested to you 3 months ago you would have laughed.

Remember when he was fat and out of shape and overpaid? Good times.

Sooo....trading Kessel bad...not trading Phaneuf also bad?

Their signings? All servicable players on 1 or 2 year deals. While there is really no upside to any of them....I fail to see the downside you are referring too.

Marner was a consensus top 5 pick on every board...but because the Leafs drafted him...Awful! Am I reading this right?

Now do the Habs first! Or the Petry signing.

yeah they really dont have enough guys in that front office.

Still missing at least 6 VPs and a few dozens executives.

To me it's a meh move.

Hunter and Dubas are inexperienced. This gives Shanny an experienced voice to bounce ideas off. I have no doubt in my mind that Shanny is still calling the shots.

It's just weird that he left NJ.

I think NJ is on it's last legs. I could see it getting moved before the Yotes.

Also that he's been absolute poop for years other than trading a top-10 pick for Schneider.

Drafting has been brutal for sure....although I don't think that's going to be on him in Toronto (otherwise the hiring would have been done a few months ago).

The rest...must be tough to compete on a shoestring budget. That being said over his career he's had a hell of a lot more success than that Buds.

I don't see how an NHL GM can find the time to attend CHL and NCAA games, let alone going in Sweden to find a 16 year old with NHL potential down the line...

I guess the GM just looks at the organisation as a whole and identifies areas of strength and weaknesses, and then tell his scouting team to find players accordingly.

Not sure my post was heaping praise on Shanny but if you say so.

Just fail to see the negative stuff that your little butt buddy saw.
