Alex Semin has pretty consistently been a 20-25 goal, 50-55 point guy for the past 5 years (except for last season)... I'd say you got a good player for really cheap. |

According to my uncle keeping Parenteau would have been a better move. |

He's mostly the type that thinks that unless there's a huge talent gap any Quebecois/Francophone is better than the others. |

But there is a huge talent gap between Parenteau and Semin... Semin has just been a lazy (frank)er. My thoughts initially is that with Therrien there, this would be Samsonov all over again. The only thing keeping me hoping that it might be Kovalev 2.0 is that the discussions he had prior to signing were with Andrei Markov. Markov will have to give him a bit of a warning from a mental toughness point of view in terms of playing in Montreal. Who knows, maybe having media consistently up his ass will get him going a bit more often... Won't be an 80 point guy but it's 1.1M for 1 year, not the end of the world if it doesn't work out. (which is my exact thought about Parenteau to TOR as well) |

Samsonov wasn't successful...but for 1.1m if Semin gets at least a similar season it's still a decent-ish investment. |

You're right, 44 points in 44 games really takes away from that pace.
As does 42 points in 65 games. Great work

He's been a bit lacking in the day-to-day stuff at times, but guys on the Canes were actually praising his work ethic up until last season.
