John Jaeckel: Morning Update - John Jaeckel
At least I already bought my tix for the Blackhawks-Caps game in October. A little more certainty about who I actually will be seeing would be nice. |

Teravainen. That is just an embarrassing request and it tells me that whoever that GM is a jackass. The Hawks have ZERO intention of moving him. They turned down a bonafide stud center Ryan Kesler because in part because they didn't want to move TT.
Asking for TT is not realistic and is a waste of oxygen to even discuss it. I get the prospects, Kruger and even Shaw, but TT IS a huge part of the present AND future of this franchise.
While these clowns are at it...ask for Toews in a trade. That will help the cap. Maybe we can toss in Kane as a "sweetener". |

Don't be. He's an RFA and didn't go to arbitration. He's here next year no matter what, and has expressed interest in staying. |

Just seemed odd that he would make a point of an official statement as such.
It's not odd at all. It's a good business move by his agent if he truly isn't going back to Chicago or at least is ready to accept not going back to Chicago and also gives Chicago one last chance. He gave Stan a lot of time to resolve this (2 weeks in UFA land) and Stan couldn't or chose not to by taking Daley back.
It lets all of the other teams no that he is serious about moving on, so you better make your best offer or lose him to another team.
There likely were teams that were not focused on him because they assumed he was going back to Chicago. They were only kicking the tires on him. Now those teams might turn more attention to him because they think they have a real chance of signing him.
It let's the hawks know that they are serious about moving on. Setting the deadline (Tuesday I thought I heard) also gives them a timeframe to put up or shut up (make the cap room now or I am moving on).
There are other reasons but I think that gives a good start as to my thought process on it.

No one wants Bickell so why not ask for the moon? If you catch a team at their most vulnerable thay may be forced to accept it. If Chicago say no about including TT then the Bruins are no further behind. |

Based off that argument, then ask for Kane or Toews. I get starting big, but start realistic. People have lives, even Stan Bowman. |
|
|
|
Craw in the summer of 2016 = Sharp in 2015. Little return, other GMs will have Stan by the balls during the negotiations. And if Craw regresses at all, then his contract makes him = Bick 2015. That would be bad. |
|
|
|
I fully expect Shaw to be dealt, either as a Bickell-sweetener or on his own. Bowman doesn't acquire redundant, low-cost assets like Garbutt unless he is planning on moving a similar player (Shaw) with a higher cap hit and unfavorable contract status moving forward. |

I'm assuming Bowman approached the Bruins about taking Bickell. I assume further that the Bruins said we will only take him if you include TT. Bowman went away and the Bruins were fine with that. |

People are acting like this is a Mike Richards, Luongo, DiPietro, or Campbell type contract. Bickell's overpaid by about 2 million for another two years. It's not an albatross of a contract that runs for another 8 years or something. |

NO NO i totally understand that, i'm worried because it's seeming more and more likely that we may end up having to trade his rights. |

Why hasn't Shaw been included yet? Sure he is a glue guy, but bangers are a dime a dozen. Remember, it is the playoffs that really count. Let Baun, McNiell, etc get some time to take Shaw's place. They have months to work on their game. |

And that is 30 minutes both GMs will never get back. I hate stupid trade offers and asking for TT as a "sweetener" is a stupid trade offer. Hawks will keep Bickell before they move TT. I am glad you respect Boston's position (assuming that's the case), but I don't. I think it's ridiculous and a waste of time. |

I wasn't a big fan of Bryan Bickell before, but man I'm really starting to like him even less, if that's possible. |

(quotes not working) Cmonalready, you said...

I concur with this 100%. I love Crow, but he's gotta be moved eventually, especially if we want to keep Seabs... If we have to do it, I'd prefer it be done now while Crow's value is highest, it enables us to re-upp Seabs, and our backs aren't (again) up against the wall. |
