But why are we settling for Miller if we're not contending? Why not keep both of the younger goalies? Miller's sv%has sucked since he's been in the western conference.
Not sure what Gillis has to do regarding Benning. Benning forced Garrison out after he took a discount to sign with his hometown team, he fired a long time equipment manager, I don't think he's as classy or honest as some like to pretend he is. - Nucker101
We are settling on Miller because of his experience and pedigree, I like you never liked the Miller signing either, but Lack had some questionable outings also....i think golfingsince was the one to point out he leaves huge holes in his playing style and i also don't think he will be a true #1.
My Gillis/Benning comparisons were because you said you can't see the logic in his moves, but you always saw Gillis's logic. I can see the Miller logic like the move or not, did I always see the logic with Gillis...not on your life, will i always see Bennings logic, probably not.
Will i always try to be open minded and objective regarding the canucks...fcuk i really hope so. |

I'd make that trade in a second. I like JV too but Ehlers has higher upside imo - Nucker101
Not disagreeing but the decision was made. |

You sure? - Nucker101
He looks like a nice pick though. He's played on so many teams the past couple of years it has to be tough. nearly a PPG pace as an 18/19 year old in the AHL. |

The thing I liked about the Sundin signing was Gillis swung for the homer. - VANTEL
The 2nd year could have (frank)ed us big time if Sundin chose to be a greedy bastard |

Agreed but Ehlers is my boy. More feisty than Nylander and more skill than Virtanen. I had him dead even with Dal Colle. |

Next time we should all go as a group.
Dream theater is another great show ive seen about 4 times. Portnoys old band. - SMBDragon
Good call - we'll have to keep our eyes peeled for any upcoming gigs which might be worth a look. Always fun to go as a group (also much easier to procure bail funds if required ) |

Like it told my friend Thunda Chunk. Lack is a goof, period, but Miller is not a 5 million dollar upgrade over Lack. The trade is over, nothing left to see , so we move on.
That's my take. |

We should make a friendly wager over who has the more productive career. |

Well even if I was tanking I'd give Sbisa just bisons year qualifying offer and if he somehow has a good season then I'd happily give him a raise or trade him. Or just let him walk and open up more minutes for Clendening/Corrado. Miller has no place on a rebuilding team either, I'd rather see Lack/Markstrom. And again, if we're rebuilding then give Kassian another year to get his act together since the stakes are high but the upside is decent. - Nucker101
You know, I agree totally with what you are saying in this post about Sbisa. It sounds like it would have been the best way to go about signing him. It is a concern. Not exactly something I'd get wound up and completely bent out of shape over though. He will embarrass you while he contributes to not over achieving. It doesnt have the potential screw up our long term goals.
He signed Miller to market value short term and managed excellent contracts on Vrbada and Tanev which are more what I'm looking at... significant players... JB doesnt look stupid then... I'll let those deals counter Sbisa who in my opinion is a cheaper physical upgrade on the turn over machine Bieksa.
Miller wont be here when the rebuild kicks into high gear. These contracts are all over with the Sedins departure. What is your opinion on that? I really don't see Miller standing in the way of the rebuild with the situation that was left behind by Gillis.
Also, is it possible you are being judgmental on things JB has done that coincide with his work orders given by the owner when he was hired?
You are great with stats... but like mentioned... you don't seem to put much into reasoning outside of your stat crunching.

Fair enough but goalies will need to start at some point or they'll always be unproven. Lack is definitely no Schneider but it's more about me just thinking Miller isn't that good. He allowed plenty of stinkers himself.

Remember when people were so pissed off Gillis didn't draft Shinkaruk with the 9th overall pick and blasted the Horvat pick ?
Good times. |

I'm guessing Gilman and Henning weren't big fans of some of Benning's moves. - Nucker101
Maybe? Or the other way round? Linden and Benning want to part ways with the old management who want to keep holding onto expiring contracts for a better 2nd rounder and eventually watch them walk away.
Money puck... lol.
Then of course there could be other reasons.

The Canucks will be around 7-11 position for the better part of the year as far as I can predict.
Maybe the Nux sign a guy who can Qb the powerplay... Ehrhoff...? He's still out there, as long as he can skate, he might be a better option than what we've had so far. |

Canucks can wait another year for Subban . If we are going after Free Agents wait until next year, when we have cap space.
Don't stroll down memory lane. Look ahead |
