Carol Schram: Vancouver Canucks: Second Half of 2015-16 Schedule, Analyzing Back-to-Backs The Vancouver Canucks will spent a good part of the second half of their season at Rogers Arena, facing their rivals from the Western Conference, in 2015-16.

Carol I think one of the reasons our schedule looks so tough is that we just aren't that good. Imagine how tough a schedule looks to a Sabres fan.

Bettman. Any chance he gets to make sure the CDN teams don't make the playoffs he will take it. I'm sure he has the NHL scheduler on speed dial...

Good point. My concern may also have been fuelled by the fact that I spent most of yesterday breaking down my thoughts on the NHL's 10 most improved teams this offseason:

http://bleacherreport.com...ost-in-the-2015-offseason

I'm not completely sold on the idea that Calgary will be better; I think they could stumble as they move out of underdog status. But I'm concerned for the Canucks that the Stars and Avalanche are teams that finished below us last season and look like they could be on the upswing.

As far as I'm concerned even games agains the Oilers could be tough this year, and traditionally we've owned them for the past decade.

All the more reason to want more teams around us. For us to play an opponent we either have to leave the province or the country.
Adding seattle would help for sure. Even maybe someday getting another in the province would be good. BC can certainly support another team or so. Kamloops for instance, but the island a good choice. I was always running into people from the island whod come down for canucks games. Itd probably have to be in victoria but lots of people from all over the island for games and from vancouver.
Would sure cut down on travel. But I dontnthink we'd ever see it happen. Nhl is intonthe states only except for quebec and toronto where theres huge huge profits. And I certainly dont see anyone paying 500M to put a team in halifax or kamloops.

Hmmm quote didnt work....responding to scheduling comments

Sorry, I just can't see BC supporting another franchise at this point. During the lean years we had a tough time supporting this one.

Bettman is too greedy to put any more franchises in Canada (unless, as you mentioned, they would be in Ontario and Quebec). I'd love to see Victoria or the Maritimes get a team but unfortunately it's not going to happen anytime soon. I could see Seattle getting a franchise, though, and that would be fantastic for Vancouver - not only the hockey team but for the fans, where you could drive down and make a weekend of watching a hockey game and hanging out. I hope it comes to fruition soon.

There would also be a natural realignment to have Seattle in the Pacific Division - so it would be Seattle, Vancouver, San Jose, Anaheim, LA and possibly either of Calgary or Edmonton (or both) - Arizona could be shifted over to the Central. It would also make for a true geographical rivalry, which always makes things that much more interesting.

lol@ Fat Girl and P*ssywhipped - looks like another Spinal Tap type tribute. Thanks for the suggestion, it might be interesting to see these guys (pretty good musicianship, by the way). They certainly seem to have a huge following (I liked Sara Silverman's cameo in 'Death to All But Metal'

P.S. boobage is good, yes

I'd have a team in Portland and Seattle, and Las Vegas (since Bettman is keen on it) and so my alignment for the Western Conference would be:

Pacific:
Vancouver, Seattle, Portland, San Jose, Anaheim, LA

Midwest:
Calgary, Edmonton, Colorado, Las Vegas, Arizona, Dallas

Central:
Chicago, Minnesota, St. Louis, Nashville, Columbus, Winnipeg.

Then I'd have Quebec City and a second Toronto team and possibly Halifax in the East and my Eastern conference would be:

Northeast:
Toronto, Toronto II, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec, Halifax

Atlantic:
Washington, Detroit, Florida, Tampa Bay, Carolina, Boston

Metropolitan:
New York Rangers, Brooklyn, Buffalo, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Pittsburg

That's 3Bil in the owners pockets, and in my scenario, the playoffs would be something like the MLB where there are 4 wild card teams who fight it out in a round before the actual playoffs to determine who the 7 and 8 seeds are in a best of 3 series. Playoffs proceed as normal from then on, now that makes tanking a lot sillier because there's a better chance of making the playoffs and earning a home date or two in the wild card round.

I'm from Kamloops and there isn't a chance that it could support an NHL team. There's well under 100 000 people there, including the surrounding areas.

No, it definitely could not. If the $ was on par....I'd give it a 10% chance. At 77 cents on the dollar that's laughable
