He's neither a winger nor a 1st liner. He's a 3 LC. His role is quite defined.

I don't question at all where Benning sees him slotting in on the team, I just don't like the trade as I feel we should have gotten a better pick out of the deal.

- golfingsince

I'll say it again, just wait for the contract Benning will give him.

Booner asked me the same. I want a tank but I don't want a bad GM running it. And I don't want the team to be filled with overpaid/bad contracts during the tank.
- Nucker101

i agree that the contracts haven't been great (to put it mildly) but they are short term deals (i.e. average about 3 years).

having bad contracts is manageable if they are short term and coincidentally expire when the team should be back on the upswing.

If Canucks could clear cap space they could offer sheet Galchenyuk

He can't shoot? He has(had) the 2nd best shot in the team.

difference is the older guy wins games. Numbers dont matter wins do. I we lose a game 6 to 1 or 2 to 1 who gives a crap. Miller wins bottom line
- The_Kuze

So, you don't think that a goaltender's ability to straight up stop a puck has anything to do with winning and losing games?

Gillis would have done nothing. Too afraid to make mistakes
- CanuckDon

Exactly. Gillis would have just gave away more assets to give this aging core shot after shot after shot...

Looks like some here were happier with Pahlsson, Roy and Booth inj the lineup...

Exactly, and lets see this ALL play out before calling this a failure. BUT, I've gotta say I'm a little concerned with JB interviews....is there not someone articulate, or someone that doesn't spew "Brandon Sutter, to me, is a foundational piece going forward." that could step in....certainly doesn't instill confidence in his overall plan.
- Makita

I just don't like the moves that have taken place so far starting with the Miller signing (I just can't get over it ). To me as of right now it has been more failure than success.

But my other point still stands. I don't want a GM who struggles with negotiations as my GM, no matter what position my team is in.

Benning would probably prefer to give Gallagher 7M over 7 years.

So Kesler, Forsling/Clendening, and a 2nd for McCann, Sbisa, Sutter, and a 3rd
- Nucker101

OK, at what point are you going to stop ignoring the reasoans kesler and Kassian are gone.

One player wanted out and there was just 1 trading partner. The other was a a boozer who couldnt keep the straw out of his nose out in public.

The return when you trade away cancer players is never very impressive. Actually, the wealth in the return is not having these players drag down the new young core.

You know this but refuse to let it alter your state of hate.

1. When Tanking, does the quality of the GM really matter outside his drafting ability (Which you have professed numerous times to have liked)?

2. WTF does having a team of "overpaid/bad contracts" matter when attempting to tank??? They are all short-term and frankly, handcuff Benning from acquiring quality free-agents that would otherwise prevent the team from accomplishing the beloved tank in the first place...?

There is a severe lack of reason within your persistent and tedious narrative.

Booner is having a more difficult time defending these moves with each passing bad move.
- Nucker101

so this is why you are breaking walls and screaming? b/c he is bad at negotiations?

if your stated main goal (tanking) is being accomplished, should you not have a more balanced view?

you're like the guy who keeps arguing even after you've made your point. "sure you agree with me now but you don't agree with me for the right reasons so i'm going to keep yelling."

If you look at the advanced stats it says that Miller is actually better than Lack in the "high scoring areas" where Lack wasn't good - the ten foot range.

The technical difference between the two is pretty negligible except Miller makes more $$ and the team wins more when he's in net. Confidence thing I guess??

Okay, I'll give you the Kassian deal since apparently he's a cokehead.

But Benning clearly targeted Luca (frank)ing Sbisa in the Kesler deal when he could have had a better asset. That's just horrible. That deal would look better if the third asset was at least a valuable asset and not player who's not viewed as a cap dump due to the new contract he got.

Yes he has...so lets get everyone to start demanding a GM change, no more waiting to see what the PLAN is.

Nucker, Bloated, Bingo and that wishywashyleafs guy, are right....Gillis was such a demi god GM, how could we have been so wrong.

Personally I'm gonna wait this out, I've given every other GM and coach the benefit of a doubt for a few years, I'll be doing the same here.

The problem is that if you don't swallow what the nay sayers are pushing then your automatically lumped into the circle jerk gang...for the record I'm the wait and see what happens, 2 hands above the covers guy.

People laughed when I said Canucks should target Sutter and Lucic earlier this year, yet Sutter now plays for us and Benning earlier tried for Lucic.

I dont mind waiting another year for Luc.

I am telling you , Canucks have all their Ducks in a row to get a first line centre or a very good Dman now by offer sheet. It is possible.
