Was Grenier waiver exempt? I thought there was one guy who could still be sent down.
I can't see MCCann getting 9 games . I can see JV sticking just for his physicality which the team sorely lacks.
The one who could steal a spot is Cassels.
I wouldn't expect any of them to excel in the beginning, look how long it took Horvat to gain confidence. They could make the team but don't expect miracles. - VANTEL
That's what I'm hoping for. |

I think Cassels would have a similar approach and the team a similar treatment of the ice time and role/responsibility as Horvat received. Not sure about the offensive production, but Cassels is likely better in the circle than Vey.
Making Vey a winger. Which winger do you think they move? Hansen? Vrbata? Burrows?
JB still has work to do - hillbillydeluxe
I am hoping if were not in a playoff spot all 3 are gone for picks/prospects. But if we are in a plaoff spot i still hope Vrbata gets traded |

I have a feeling Vrbata won't want to re-sign here again . Get a return for him |

Agreed. If they are anywhere near a playoff spot they won't, but they should. He was a ghost against Calgary anyways. |

I think even if they are secured in the playoffs , trade him. You are right about being invisible . I have a very hard time thinking this team would go all the way. He would eventually walk for nothing.

Yup. Nothing against him. He's a legitimately skilled low maintenance player that plays a solid 200ft game. He's the perfect TDL add for the right team, as long as he's somewhat protected. You could tell that he was hearing footsteps against the Flames. |

BBQ Greek Potatoes:
Cut a few potatoes however you prefer: wedges or quartered or sliced or whatever.
Set aside.
In a small mixing bowl squeeze the juice from one lemon over a chicken bullion cube. Heat in the microwave for fifteen seconds and then wisk until the bullion is completely disolved.
Add 2 cloves of garlic, either minced or put through the press, a tiny bit of cinnamon, some zest from the lemon peel and about a tablespoon of dried parsley. Mix well.
Toss the potatoes in the lemon mixture.
Using tinfoil create a foil pouch. Add potatoes and any remaining liquid and some butter and carefully pinch shut all seams on the tinfoil. Because there is a small amount of liquid involved you have to make sure it's completely closed off but be careful not to have it packed too tightly. There has be room for the air to circulate inside the foil.
Cool over medium low heat for 30-60 minutes, depending on how large you cut the potatoes. Turn every 15 minutes or so. |

The more I look at our roster, the more I believe we are not going to be able to make room for a youngster to crack the line up. Injuries are the only way I see Grenier or virtanen getting the call. Where does shinkaruk or gaunce fit in for the next 3 years? I unfortunately see gaunce as a Archibald 2.0, AHL veteran for the majority of his career. Does McCan get a solid look this training camp? I really don't understand the direction benning is taking with the team. I have faith, just confused... - Codes1087
Hillbilly gave a good reply to this post and I'll add that a player/s could be moved in Oct plus late season may have all kinds of youth in the line up depending on the trade deadline.
I'm basically saying that we have all season to make room realistically. We have all kinds of contracts expiring over the next two years. It's not hard to see the direction. The transition isnt going to be done all in one year. Thats just not realistic. This is why we have a farm team.

Me too. When I think of all the ineffective players that Gillis tried to add, shedding assets all the while, well, it makes me really want a smoke. |

It sounds like benning will have a bunch of money to spend next summer, along with the picks I hope he gets in return for shipping off some rentals. I can settle with a few tough years if the return was a super competitive team in the next 5 years, without missing a game TV as well. In benning I believe, minus his ability to negotiate money or term haha

I hope Benning stands pat with the players he has now. I like the holes in the line up just fine. As it stands, Benning has left opportunity. We are weak in the middle... that will only help move Horvat along and give Vey another opportunity. It also gives Cassels and Gaunce opportunities because there will be injuries and cold spells... I see kids getting action definitely. I don't want to plug any holes with Fehr etc... Looks to me management is on track with this.
Same with D. I like it just fine the way it is..weak. It's going to be ugly but at some point,,, Corrado is going to get minutes that the coach is going to be relying on. There will be a few call ups at some point as well.
I'm not concerned about roster spots. Trade/waive Hansen. Injuries will provide the rest of the space. The following season there will be even more kids expected to step in. |

I can't see him cracking the roster but you never know.
THN posted their projected roster that looked pretty decent and Horvat was the 5th C on it.
Saad RNH Mackinnon
Gaudreau McDavid Strome
Huberdeau Monahan Jenner
Galchenyuk Couturier Eichel
Drouin Horvat
Jones Trouba
Ekblad Hamilton
Murray Rielly
Severson Ceci
Gibson
Subban
Fucale - belcherbd
Saad, RNH, Couturier, Hamilton will all be 23 by then, no?

I heard something the other day that the Sedins would consider waiving to go to Edmonton and play with McDavid.
RNH and Draisatl would be the return from what I was told. |
