I wonder who would be on a Team Canada roster?

- SensnRBs

As long as they leave out Messier I might give them a look...

I think that anyone who thinks this wont work isnt anywhere near 45 years old. I play in 40+ tournaments with a bunch of ex-JrB, JrA and OHL beer leaguers .... and the hockey is fantastic to play in and watch.

To see some of these ex-pros playing again would be great. Remember, this isnt a league per se, its a preamble for the 2016 IIHF World Championships. It's basically a tournament.

Im 46 actually. I just think its exciting to have all those names of stars you remember and then you stop and think ok some of these guys now are 50 pounds heavier and havent skated in years. But LAST we saw them it was exciting.

Its kinda like the all star game. ....sounds exciting then you watch that borefest. Except those guys are in shape still.

Team canada? There is no team canada in it.....its europe only

this is my guess too. I dont see him going to TO until later in his career.

Living in Tampa must be awesome.

Living in TO is not awesome.

- bloatedmosquito

Id think tampa would be awesome too. Ive been there.
Add that hes a mega rich athlete, geez does it get any better?
Remember thats where tiger woods got exposed for his $100,000 high price hooker party.

Why go to toronto and ruin your career? Kessel and Phaneuf both huge names attracting big $ and getting big return in trades then they go to toronto and are pretty much untradable.

Stamkos stay far far away

I think it might actually be fairly entertaining. I know in beer leagues that these old guys get pretty competitive, I dont think the Legends just turned it off completely. This league is probably aimed for those who still want something to train for something but dont have to face a 20-year old 235lb freight train

Ducks just signed Santorelli to a very cheap contract. Nice move for them.

Very smart, they wouldve likely looked to trade for him at the deadline, now they can get him comfortable early and have him at his most effective

Adidas potentially getting new jersey deal with league. I can see Vancouver using it as an excuse to do another redesign..

Ok there hasn't been too much to discuss lately so im wondering what the lack of player signings this off season is due to.? Names like franson and erhoff still without contract. Unusual this time of year. Sure erhoff isnt quite as good as he used to be but 27 yr old stud D franson?

Anyone have ideas as to why so many names are still remaining on august 17th?

Nice move. They are the favourites to win... This is just another speedy player on a team that gained a lot of speed with Hagelin and has Cogliano as well to make up for the lack of footspeed from Getzlaf and Perry...

They were hard to beat last season and they'll be even better this year.

Kesler may have made the best move going to the Ducks. Bieksa just might end up with a cup for his troubles... Canucks should have made that draft pick conditional (ie: moving up a round or two if Ducks win the cup, or having a conditional thrown into the mix)..

Franson was a stud D for the idiot media in Toronto, but everyone remembers he was originally a throw in by the Preds to the Leafs...

WooHoo, posting privileges reinstated.

Carol mentions it in the blog...here is the exert.

First week of October: All-Star Game to introduce the league. Team Russia will make up one side; the other side will be a collection of players from all countries, including the U.S. and Canada, who won't ice full teams this year.

Hold on there ...a soft player that is now injury prone is a good move?

You do realize that there's pretty much zero risk right? If he gets injured they place him on IR. If he sucks they can waive him without a cap hit. He's been a solid bottom 6 player the last two seasons. It's a great move, running a contending team in California has its advantages. It's not like they're counting on him to anchor a line.

Would have loved this move, easy to flip him for a pick at the TDL if he plays well. If he sucks, the Comets say hello to their new top 6 center.

Oh yeah, I forgot we prefer trading away/downgrading picks to get bottom 6 players instead of trading them away for picks during a "retool".

It was strange, after the political posts a week ago and I responded to scooby, in which I posted my thoughts on our current leader and requested no more political posts in a hockey blog.

I was promptly denied posting privileges, and was made to verify my account with a pin number, which took a week to obtain after several requests.

Now it's quite possible hockeybuzz support is completely over worked and inundated with requests, but certainly seems suspicious.
