If they are using players close to 45 , Canucks can send a few over at TDL |

Brock Nelson is still not signed , what are we giving up for him? Ballard Raymond and a second? |

He has the size, at the right age. Benning has to be working the phones with teams that are deep with centers or trying to figure out how to acquire picks to position himself to target a high end draft pick. |

If you look at the Islanders roster, they are loaded with centers. Solid potential trade partner. |

from the last board buffalo fan..
Consider the teams who have recently executed the "tear it down and build it back up" approach and the players they received due to the high picks. Notice how oftentimes all they need are two key players and if they draft high more than that it is because the players did not pan out:
Chicago- Toews(3rd overall), Kane(1), Cam Barker(3,useless). I'd say it worked
Tampa- Stamkos(1), Hedman(2), Brett Connolly(not with the team). Made the cup finals and damn near won it and look to be a contender for many years. I'd say this also worked
LA- Doughty(2), Kopitar(11), Hickey(4), Brayden Schenn(5). Won two cups. Once again, I'd say it worked
Buffalo- Jack Eichel(2), Samson Reinhart(2), Rasmus Ristolainen(8). TBD as we are just beginning the "build it up" phase, but I like our chances. Note we *only* have received 2 top 5 picks (I predict next year we will select between5-8).
Edmonton- McDavid(1), Draisaitl(3), Nurse(7), Yakupov(1), Nuge(1), Hall(1), Sam Gagner(6). They are the anomaly as they are the only team to continuously draft high and continue to (frank) it up. Having said that, they are another team that is trending up and will be very scary in a few years so I still like their chances of this succeeding.
NYI- Okposo(7), J Bailey(9), Tavares(1), Nino Niederreiter(5), R Strome(5), Grif Reinhart(4), Michael Dal Colle(5). They weren't good for a very long time, but they have finally figured it out and had one of the better possession teams in the league last year and appear to be a contender for many years.
I wouldn't call any of these a "bad" situation. All of them should be perennial contenders that make up the next wave of "LA's" or "Chicago's" and I would be thrilled to be a fan of any of these organizations.
teams who go "full tanktard" don't necessarily make it back in any kind of reasonable timeframe...
the coilers are the worst offender in that bunch... the leafs have been tanking for years but just didn't realize it....
the isles took a seriously long time due to management issues..
it's not always about the players chosen in the early first round picks, management can screw things up and extend the timeline by making bad decisions (edmonton) or bad drafting so there's no depth...

And also a good example what kind of a player you will probably get with a high first round draft pick. Combine that with JB's scouting background and you have to like the odds. Top 5 next year would be awesome. |

Yeah I think after one period fans would be snoozing.
I put this idea right up there with having a 24 hour full access cam at clothing optional seniors resort. |

Looking at Buttons list 16 for 16. He has 2 Penticton Vee's on the list. #6. Tyson Jost is a great player on the team, a bit small though. They better have scouts at their games next season.

He has Tyler Benson at 15 . That is where Canucks are projected. I would be ok with him , we need LW |

There are some interesting players on that list. #14. Brett Howden sounds good as well if they take a Center. |

I think we need LW and D more than a center at this point. Bensen makes a lot of sense especially as Shink has stalled a bit |

I tend to agree. I don't like our LHF too much. I know it is an unpopular choice here but I do hope they bring home LUcic next year. |
