Seriously? We're arguing about Santorelli signing with Anaheim? I know it's the dog days of summer by why do we care about a marginal smallish/injury-prone center that likely rides the pine or press box in Anaheim? No team is going to give up more than a 3rd or later pick for him at the trade deadline so I don't see why it's such a big deal to the kaptaans and Nuckers of the world. It's not like he's suddenly going to massively improve our team or get us an extra 1st or 2nd round pick because he's going to defy all projections and odds and be a 50-60point center.

Some how Benning gets mentioned by Nucker over this signing... this has just gotten ridiculous.

It's a 2nd hand story from a friend that isnt even credited with Stamkos being the source.... and it's 100% true and going to happen as far as your are concerned.

It is something to talk about.

But it also reminds me of the James Duthie story regarding GMMG and FA basically celebrating the cup before it was won.

If you read back at the comments, I originally just said that it was a great deal for ANA. Also, I've been harping on the recycle and flip veterans for picks strategy every summer since the SJ sweep. It seems like a great way to add to the prospect pool and still keep the team competitive.

Why we won't see Brock Boeser at the Young Stars tournament and the Los Angeles Kings' secret to success in player development, in a brand new blog:

It is an interesting strategy, I like the idea of it, but it is a strategy mostly utilized by non playoff teams. More mixed messages from management if they trade pending ufa's while in a playoff position. Why have the publicly stated goal of making the playoffs and then trade away pieces that helped you get there?

I know the answer, because the team is not expected to win the cup and acquiring prospects and or picks will make the club better down the road instead of seeing an early round exit and letting a ufa walk.

I'm not against moving pending ufa's. I agree with it to some extent. Just hoping management doesn't hold fast and moves at least one of Vrbata or Hamhuis for a high pick/prospect or package. Even Prust if we can get a 3rd or something. Just not expecting all 3 to me moved. Maybe one of Weber or Bart?

Heck, if we are totally out of a playoff spot, trade all the pending ufa's...

Most stories are second hand...
I expect an apology from all of you the moment Stamkos signs in Toronto. I will do the same if he doesn't.
