People underrate Talbot because they think the Rangers have a great defense which he benifited from. Not true - the Rangers D wasn't that much greater than the Oilers last year.

I'm sure people will call that ridiculous, so my next blog will be about that later today.

Agreed. Buffalo's D is a serious problem. Does not having 6 NHL experienced quality D bring back any memories of another team?

I remember 1 of my best friends & fantasy sports junkies kept telling me Edmonton was going to make the playoffs 2 seasons ago. I said not with that D & it's the reason I think Edmonton comes up just short again this season. Getting Sekera helps immensely but still really a #2 Dman, Gryba helps as well & Klefbom is improving but still not quite good enough in the power house West to make the top 8 but they will be right there this season just missing by a couple of points. no more than 6 & the future looks bright every where in Edmonton now. 1 more season & Edmonton vaults up the standings significantly to serious playoff contender.

Buffalo will improve also but that means going from the worst team of the modern era to about 14th, possibly 13th in the east. An improvement but Lehner is going to look really bad playing behind that D. I don't even see how to pair them other than I know Bogosian, Gorges & 2nd year player Ristolainen are their top 3.

Bogosian, Weber.
Ristolainen, Gorges.
Pysyk, Ciacovo.
Donovan, ?

That's really ugly, young, & has 3 D that shouldn't even be playing in the NHL & if they are, that's a serious problem.

Sorry sending from my phone. Let's try that again. Colaiacovo.

James.

Stop embarrassing yourself. NYR had the 3rd best goals against last season allowing 187 goals. Edmonton was worst at 276. That's more than a goal a game. At even strength NYR allowed 138, Edmonton 199. That's more goals allowed at even strength than NYR allowed in total.

Give your head a shake. Perhaps you should try writing about ping pong!

It's tough to have a good defense when you don't have OEL.

Talbot is a competent goalie but if Tanner thinks he helped that defense, more than the defense helped him, he seriously needs to stop writing about hockey and expect to be taken seriously.

Before anyone nails me on it, I DO know that Kane was acquired in season last year—I just see it as part of the recent rebuild. And, no, I still don't like what he brings overall.

Oilers easily. Sabres have some decent prospects but it's like comparing boys to men against the stacked Oilers

I've stopped reading JT & his comments are more outlandish than Ek's. I simple stopped reading his blogs. He has zero credibility & is just working to generate hits based on a bunch of BS to try & generate revenue for himself. If he honestly believes this crap he's peddling he needs to get out of the blogger business as said, it's embarassing.

And I don't like the addition of Evander Kane to Buffalo. Or any team. He's a million dollar talent with ten cent character.

are you kidding me, the Hawks have the poster child for Dysfunctional. P Kane beat up the cab driver for less then 10 cents

I guess when all the first round picks are given to you, that happens. If it was the Sabres in Oliers position, it would be a different story.

JJ's line about Evander Kane reminds me of one of the many great lines from Pulp Fiction when the Wolf says because you are a character does not mean you have character.

Must be something about the last name Kane.
