I'd agree with everything except I would switch Brian Rolston with Mark Recchi on the Marchand Bergeron line. They had great chemistry and Recchi wasn't even in his prime. I would also take out Juneau and add Iginla. If we are talking when they were in their prime, I can't imagine a better line then Iglina, Oates and Neely.

We just did a all-time great Blackhawks team but we didn't have the "modern era" 25 year restriction - jeez, that means the player had to play between 1990 and now ... that eliminates a whole bunch of good players for the Hawks and Bruins.

I think the "in their prime" part may take away from the intent of the original question, otherwise doesn't brian leetch have to make the list (among others)

So are you basing this solely on how they preformed as Bruins? Because I find it maddening that Kessel and Seguin aren't on there if you're taking into account players entire careers. It put Phil with Jumbo and Seguin in Kreijci's spot any day of the week. But if it's just their B's tenure that courts then ignore me.

Definitely not for me to say, but I think you have to draw the line somewhere. Using some of my favorites and trying to create a line up that doesn't have four scoring lines. Yes I know I left off some great players. Assuming their best years as bruins and set in today's NHL.

Maybe speed not grit for 4th line, but I'm also assuming the won't play more than 5 minutes. Not many right handed dmen to choose from.

I would swap Pj in for Rolston. That would be the biggest heartthrob line in B's history for sure (not to mention impossible to score on). Otherwise, awesome blog and good lines!

Ouff.....l19f9, I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you're a young buck. Otherwise you would know there is NO WAY you take Joe Juneau off the roster (for Iggy nonetheless).

Juneau- 161 games played, 193 points. Including a season of 102 points.
Iginla- 78 games played, 61 points

This does radically change depending on if you are only using their tenure with Boston. But I think the original guy in the blog was way off. Only changes I'd make are maybe including Allison and Guerin. Samsonov was mentioned, but that whole GAS line combined for 243 points. Maybe replacing Knuble with Samsonov, and sliding Allison to the wing with Bergeron and Marchand? Some great centres in there, I may take Allison over Krejci, except for the playoff impact...

Why restrict it to the Modern Era? The Expansion Era (67-92) had 22 teams. Also, I think the Espo line out-performed the Neely line. It of course eliminates the greatest D ever in Orr.

Yeah, this only factors in how they played as Bruins.

Why restrict it to the Modern Era? The Expansion Era (67-92) had 22 teams. Also, I think the Espo line out-performed the Neely line. It of course eliminates the greatest D ever in Orr.

Ty, I was pumped to see you take time to mention PJ Axelsson. During his time with the Bruins I always felt he gave 100%. He may not have been the most skilled guy, but he made up for it in almost every other aspect of the game. He never got the credit he deserved. One of my all time favorites.

"Stone Hands" Paille constantly brought back memories of PJ "Gumby" Axelsson.

Axelsson is so much better, but every time "Stone Hands" misses an empty net or screws up a breakaway I smirk and giggle.........PJ.......PJ..........

hal gill was never a shut down defensman, he only played good against Jagr for some reason, every other night he was a orange cone that played soft.

I cant believe you have Seidenberg as an honorable mention and sweeney as a top D man. Remember, he was protected by Bourque, and after breaking his shoulder, was never considered the hardest hitting 170 lb defenseman in the league.

I'm glad you found a way to include axelson. If you put his heart into Joe Thortons body, you would have had the best player in the league.

He played during the day when it was still acceptable to smash people, and all he did was gently push. He was 6'7" and played like he was 5'7". He was beyond frustrating to watch.
