it's like Chris Pronger.
hated that guy when he was playing on EDm, Ana and Philly...yet somehow always appreciated him when he put on the team Canada jersey.

Except only one of them has played for team Canada.

Pronger was a winner; wherever he went, even poopty Edmonton, teams competed. Royal POS and he crossed the line on occasion, but he gave it all and he was difficult to play against. Been a long time since I could say that about a Canuck player.

More importantly would need to have eyes in the back of their heads.......not sure why you want a pos like this on your team.

Im ok with that... its a penalty... not the end of the world. I'm more offended by knee, low hit, hit to head... hit from behind. Amazing how differently we see things.

So my GF comes over to use my kitchen because I have an oven. She has to make a dessert for a dinner tomorrow, all day long she's riding me about taking a piece of pie before she leaves, so I stayed in the basement keeping busy all day. She left about an hour ago and I just went upstairs and opened my fridge and there is a pie in there and a note that says "this ones for you" she left me my own lemon meringue pie. Now I'm going to eat my GF's pie.

Trade market was a lot different back during the Gaustad deal and that was an outlier deal anyway.

Franson + Santorelli >> Prust

Plus Benning isn't a great negotiator.

speaking of contracts.....makes you miss gillis a bit...in a way. He could sign guys for way less than just about anyone. Just ban him from the NTCs. and dont let him trade!!

So put gillis on signings and benning on Drafting and someone else on trades....Maybe JB on trades too if he improves. GM by committee

It's not like he is above those types of plays either....a penalty is often the result of a hockey play, that is just an embarrassment. Notice how he tucks his tail right afterwards?

In no way could I cheer for him, he is a gutless bully who cries if anyone returns the favor to him.
I can't stand other guys who clearly aim to injure, but there is a big difference imo between suckering a guy and hits that get ugly. There is absolutely no doubt on what his intentions were.

Keith is another player I have a hard time cheering for, the sedin hit was bad but his slash on Carter was the one that cemented my opinion of him.

They don't do it every game. The NHL allows this to be part of the game. Therefore you need to be the best at a part of the game that the NHL ignore.

Is it any different than the biting or scrotum grabbing that goes on in the NFL or CFL?

Aaron Rome gets four games for his hit Keith gets 2. You got to stop complainingabout it( not meant at you) and be the meanest and baddest until the league fixes it. Nice guys really do finish last on occasions.

I am still not convinced Benning is doing a bad job yet. He has a vision .

Im saying any GM position in the league. You cant be good at it all unless your name is ken holland. Otherwise no.

I like certain things about benning but not his contracts. which was my point.

I do believe there is a pattern to some of his moves that not everyone can see till he's further into it. But his contract do suck. I think 3M for miller is more like it. Believe it was 4 he got from the blues?

Nice guys might finish last, but in the playoffs you better cut that stuff out or be the best PK unit in the NHL or you're in for a world of hurt. I'm not a Lucic fan myself, but if he's willing to take under market value for a 5-6 year deal, I'd be down with it.

Whether many like it or not it's what the team needs. Having Lucic here (if it happens) will send a message to certain players that if you take liberties with our players you may not leave our building with all your teeth. It's time that other teams were scared S**Tless to play in our building. It's not really a question of whether fans like him or not. Many don't like Burrows and his antics but he can be a very effective player. Lucic would fill a gaping hole we have required for a very long time and would be a welcome addition.

Man I love the fall time...

Northern Coho are coming down.
Baseball playoffs.
NFL is starting up.
NHL training camps and preseason coming.

And best of all, a lot of ass time in the local pub watching sports while I enjoy a craft beer!!

Rumour has it Anze Kopitar asking the Kings for J. Toews type of money. Most good UFA's won't make it to market but this is one guy that may?

Kopi is as good or better than Toes...

Toes has the reputation and perception that's been media driven of him as a leader. Kopi is an on ice leader, has a couple of cups, greater offensive ability (plays on a defense minded team yet still has close to the same number of points as JT) and can play the defensive game as well...

I think Kopi is worth the same money as Toes is getting.

Is it his life-long dream to play for the Toronto Maple Leafs?
