What happened to the amazing Ice Hockey avatar?
I've said this many times but I think that posters > 30 tend to be pro Benning while some of the younger posters are anti Benning. I realize this is a broad generalization. Older posters have been through a few cycles in he past and are more likely to be patient and give new management a 3-4 year window to implement their plan.y

A massive 1-2 year rebuild isn't possible as there are too many solid vets that aren't going to tank. I for one, appreciate that we have "hockey people" running the show as apposed to a player agent relying to heavily on analytics. I don't believe any level of stats can replace the good old eye test/ hockey intuition that comes with experience around the game

- CanuckDon

the biggest reason nucker pi$$es me off is that he makes me come across as pro-benning.

i'm actually not as much as i come across. if someone was as positive as nucker is negative, i'd be a "benning hater."

i think it's too early to tell. and based on the "win now and rebuild at the same time," directive that i believe comes from ownership, i don't think anyone could get the results/rebuild that i would want.

i guess i'm just a wishy washy guy who sees the real world as somewhere down the middle. you can fall one way or the other but it's the absolutists or near absolutists that bug me.

Check out yesterday's thread. They were the ones grinding Nucker's gears the hardest.
- CubanBuffet

I usually grind his gears pretty good, but I'm anything but 100% pro Benning.

Do you know anyone that posts here that thinks all of JB's moves have been glorious?

thanks for the tip
- golfingsince

the guy who referred me to that show said it was better than the wire.

i don't think it could be but if it's anywhere close, it's definitely worth watching.

any of you gents have any recommendations? i'm always looking for recommendations. i consider the wire as the best show ever made if that helps you with what i may like.

Thanks. I think I'll watch the movie first. I don't have any suggestions at this point aside from Narcos.

Aside from his drafting he hasn't liked a thing he's done, and even then he questions many of the picks. He might like the Vrbata move but i'm not even sure about that.

There is far more negativity on this board in regards to JB (and the Canucks in general) than there is positivity. There are quite a few moves that I question as well but i'm willing to see how they play out before I criticize daily.

definitely. don't know why i mentioned the show before the movie.

i've been waiting for the weekend to watch the movie so hopefully it doesn't disappoint.

i watched the new mad max last week with the gf. i thought it was visually appealing but the story line was beyond paper thin. don't know why it got such good reviews.

if you're a tom hardy fan (like me), i thought the drop was pretty good. i also liked locke. that movie is intriguing. you may love it or absolutely hate it. check out the rotten tomatoes reviews for it. it can be slow if you're looking for lots of action (or characters for that matter lol).

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure he has liked Baertschi, clendening, vrbata, Tanev contract and I believe the dorsett acquisition but not likely the contract.

Agreed. I haven't checked out Locke but I may. I usually don't watch much TV or movies in the summer but it's been pretty hot out lately so i've been keeping the kids indoors mid-day.

It's not so much that he likes or dislikes the moves, he's just a downer about it. He's a poster and entitled to his opinion like everyone else. That doesn't mean his opinion is any more right or wrong.

Then again, he hated all of Chip Kelly's moves this offseason and the Eagles look pretty damned good.

It's a hockey forum in the summer. We're all of us saying the same things over and over, Nucker's simply taken a pessimistic viewpoint. And not, as far as I can tell, because he's inherently pessimistic, but because that's how he views the team.

Personally, I'm willing to wait and see and hope for the best, but I'm not going to lie, I find the "Everything is Awesome" crowd just as tiring as the Benningadon one.

- CubanBuffet

I give Nucker full credit for getting us talking all summer. He has his opinion and I respect it and always enjoy his posts . As always we never agree but I do enjoy the chat

I'm in the wait and see camp. But wasn't happy with the cost of some of the moves, but if they turn out to make the team better then the costs may be moot.

I think our top 6 is stronger if Sven fits in on the 2nd line. Goal tending is just about a wash. The defense still needs lots of work. Bottom 6 is grittier. Put it all together and what do you get? Just waiting to find out.

- hillbillydeluxe

I gladly welcome Sutter Vey Sbisa Sven over Bieksa Raymond Higgins . I know Raymond was gone before JB. I am just tired of trying to win with the same old guys

it's pretty comical that people have been talking about him for pages +++ and he hasn't even been around.

On the 3rd day he will rise.

Let's get back to fictitious trades and future signings.
