I hope he does. Horvat and Sutter will be part of the new core , so it will build a stronger team

When Kesler was on the trade block the offers most thrown around here were

Etem and the Ana first.
Bonino and the Ana first
Sutter Pulliot and a first
Terevanien and a first.

Kesler handcuffed us and said he would only go to Ana. We got back Bonino a first Sbisa and Dorsett. Bonino was a disappointment so Benning got the other player he and we wanted Sutter. We got McCann who most people thought was a steal. We got Dorsett and yes we got pizza boy.

It was not exactly what we wanted but it was close and that is not bad considering he could only trade to one team

Sutter is just a better option than Bonino. Bonino made it through the year last year playing 2 nd line and I think it will be fun to watch Horvat and Sutter battle it out for top position
- VANTEL

Sutter and Horvat will make a good 2nd and 3rd C for the next 3 or 4 years even if they sign a better C for the #1. Of course the debate about Sutter being over paid for a 3rd if perhaps Horvat moves above him will be hot,,, but I think that would make this team pretty damn solid. The vacancy at #1 C just may draw some attention from UFA's... big money but that would fast track this team if they were to do that immediately post Sedins.

This team should have no problem with building a solid bottom six for a entire generation. I think that is already done both now and for years to come.

Of course there is no fast track(3 years) regardless without adding one or two top 2 D..... and I am not sold on moving along too quickly... we need a top 5 pick or two to really load up our future #1 C or #1 D. Top UFA's get old too quickly and the problem is back as quickly as it was addressed.

I'm thinking this team gets a top 5 pick in the Sedins final year. Maybe they finish elsewhere and this team tanks hard post TDL.

Is there a everything is awesome crowd? Thats a joke right?

I know nucker would point at me but I said it enough times, I'm not happy with all the additions or contracts.... It appears that Benning is making trades hastily and sacrificing some value, and it's not without reason.... none of it is as damaging as some make it out to be though... panicking over losing a handful of positions late in the 2nd round or early 3rd is not the end of the world and is not a indication on how it's always going to be. I'm just part of the rational crowd..... facing off against exaggerating or fabricating posters. I don't ever intend to keep people from discussing anything but I'll continue to challenge the BS as long as it's being posted. Why do people cry about that?

Everything is awesome!!

Trading an aging over the hill career 2nd liner in Kesler for Suter(acquired for 3rd string center Bonino) then locking up Suter for less then Kesler is making is a big time win!! 2nd rounders rarely make any meaningful impact so the throw in is meaningless.

Locking up future all star Sbisa (big, mean, heavy hitting Defender with a howertzer of a shot and quick wheels) for under #2 defenceman money = Huge win.

Unloading an aging #7 defenceman in Bieksa without having to eat salary is huge, getting a 2nd rounder for him is a bonus. 2nd Round picks are where you find your hidden Gems and get a deep prospect pool .

Moving Garrison who was the #3 Left defenceman and was being paid like a #2 defenceman to free up cap space to sign Vrabata is awesome to.

Trading Lack before he made Miller feel unwelcome was great to. (all we needed was a young up and comer to block the development of future hall of famer Markstrom from developing.)

Vey has improved in every sophmore season that he has played, this one will be no different, great pickup.

Flipping a 5th round pick into a top defenceman prospect = pure gold.

unloading a contract in an over-rated defenceman prospect = better then gold

2nd rounder for Sven, wow what do I have to say... nothing this speaks for its self.

I am just as leery about Benning as the next guy, but I do see a pattern. He is adding some toughness and bringing in some size. He is making us more playoff ready.

He has tried to bring in the skilled player to with Sven and Vey, but it will take a few years to develop..

I think through and through he is bringing in a more rounded team. Some of his moves are very questionable but like he did in Boston , he is bringing in the player he likes and developing them into how he sees they fit on the team.

I am more than willing to give him his chance and I will accept the mistakes along the way.

We haven't even played a game this year so I am quite interested to see how it plays out. If we lose I will welcome the draft pick but I think he may just impress a few people somewhere.
