Do we see Rodrigues as a future NHL'er? If so, our forward group for the future looks really good.
ROR
Kane
Moulson
Ennis
McGinn
Foligno
Eichel
Reinhart
Girgs
Baptiste
Bailey
Rodrigues
Larsson
DesLauriers
Maybe McGinn and Foligno might not be here but it looks pretty solid. Maybe they'll sign a UFA or make a trade here and there but gotta like the future, lots of young guys here. |

Was actually wondering what the odds are McGinn is here beyond deadline day.
Ideally don't want to pay too much for your bottom 6 but if McGinn has a good year he could get decent money, might be better selling high on him and replacing him with someone already in the system.

I would agree with this. Big question is does Murray try to re-sign him or promote a Bailey/Baptiste into that role. I'd be fine either way. I like what McGinn brings to a lineup. |

I figured it's why they brought him in, so that guys like Bailey, Baptiste Fasching etc. aren't rushed. But he's probably not going to take much of pay cut unless he has an awful year in which case why would you want him back when you've got those younger players to take his place? As they get better cap management has got to become a priority. If you want to pay guys like O'Reilly 7.5 mil you have make sure that your bottom 6 guys aren't being paid too much. McGinn may wind up asking for 3.5 to 4 mil. |

Rodrigues has a helluva shot--quick, deceptive and accurate...when i saw him 3-on-3, in a very short time he potted five goals using, what seemed like, five different shots |

He's a pending UFA making $2.95M this year and doesn't want to think of himself as a throw-in to the ROR trade and I'm sure wants to bounce back after his back injury. You wanna balance your forwards with a blend of youth and experience. I wouldn't have a problem re-signing McGinn, maybe 2 years at 3.5 would be ok.

Totally agree, but im trying to weigh that against having enough cap to spend in trades and his potential return. Could be a good way to re stock the cupboard as they say.

After this season we have a 2 year window before Eichel and Reinhart get their raises so signing McGinn for 2 shouldn't disrupt the cap in the short term. |
