I agree Corrado was good last season in the run, although Sanguietti was head and shoulders the best defender. He deserves a shot in the NHL based upon his last few years of good work.
Does anyone really think Hutton's feelings will be hurt if he is sent down? - belcherbd
Sending Hutton down is not the wrong thing to do. |

Lose faceoffs
Lose board battles
Not do much offensively and suddenly score a random goal
Almost make you miss Mason Raymond
He does an amazing job. |

Trust me. I had Corrado penciled in as the #6 guy but Bartkowski/Hutton look so much better. - Nucker101
you had corrado penciled in as the #6 and now you're saying who cares if he's lost on waivers?

Would Edmonton take a flyer on Corrado if given a chance??
As per the organisation question, I wouldn't be too upset if they send Hutton down and recall him as soon as the inevitable injuries pile up on the back end.
Easy conversation to have with him and say, you've impressed us, continue doing well in Utica and we'll have you back asap. - dbot
No. They have too many D-men right now. |

Maybe, maybe not. You're probably right, there's probably at least one team where Corrado would be an upgrade to the top 8, but if he hasn't played well enough to earn a spot here do you send Hutton down so you don't lose Corrado? What does that say about an organization if you punish a player for playing too well because it is convenient for you to send him to the minors? - 1970vintage
Only a fan would consider sending a defenseman lacking a season of pro down to the AHL as punishment.
A GM would consider the entire situation and make the decision that most helps the club moving forward and I doubt the player would *feel* punished. He knows not having to clear waivers factors into it... just like the thousands of other prospects that worked their way into the NHL.
Can't believe we are back to *feelings* as being the big factor. |

Throw Weber on waivers. For me, it's easy to elect for Hutton over Weber. He's done nothing to impress me his entire time here (aside from banging Carey Price's sister )
Management has said that they would make room for youngsters by moving a veteran if they had too. It's "proof is in the pudding" time for me with Benning. If he can do the same thing with Higgins, to make room for McCann and they are obviously committed to Vey, I'll go into this season with some intriguie. - PetrolSexual
There was those 10 goals... not impressive but who the hell else scores on our blue line. |

If Corrado is truly not ready and mgmt feel like he is an asset you can afford to lose then it makes sense. But the reality is this organization can't afford to lose prospects for free just because of a meh showing in preseason.
People complain on here all the time that the organization needs to do better job developing players, and IMO jettisoning a player who has gotten better every season just because there is a shiny new toy who is playing well is terrible development.
Allow Corrado to play some games that matter and if he is still not ready risk him through waivers and bring up Hutton then. If it's okay to send Subban to France without a sniff of preseason games, wouldn't the same mentality apply to Hutton?
He can always be called up later if he continues his strong play. - belcherbd
Very good post. I still want to see what Corrado can do playing a regular shift. He only has 28 NHL games and most of those he outplayed the likes of Bieksa and other 7/8 D in the org.
People have been giving it to Corrado for mistakes... I think Hutton will make more mistakes than him. He hasnt played more then a small handful of pro games and it is one of his criticisms....
I was saying a few days ago that signing Bartowski was unnecessary... now if we do fit Hutton in, it will be at the expense of putting one of our drafted D men on waivers... one that we took our time developing... like I said, it was unnecessary. Good depth move... but created a log jam for now.

If they keep him up, I doubt it's going to be to keep him in the press box. And if you followed this team closely, you'd know that WD rolls all lines and pairings. No dman gets 12/13 mins. |

I don't get why Andrew Alberts didn't have more fans here since hits are so important, he had as many hits with probably less giveaways. - Nucker101
Alberts... 4 of 5 hits would land him in the penalty box and he couldnt skate.... and he was injury prone.
What a dumb post.

Sbisa blows. Anyone who fails to see it should start watching another sport. The eye test and the stats back it up. No GM is touching that contract. |
