Why won't the Avs ever try Duchene and Landeskog together?

They have in the past, but loading up with Landy and Dutch on the top line, in the past, has really made the second line weaker.

I could see them trying it a bit more this year, but since Landy has come into the league, he just always had instant chemistry with Cs like Stastny, ROR, and now Soderberg. Why break up a good thing, as soon as Yeti and Landy were put together in Camp, they just clicked

Good write up Rick, but Im not too shocked about Grigorenko as a reserve for this game. He has played every pre-season game so far, and putting Glencross up with Dutch, its just getting another shot to see if there is anything there with him on a PTO.

They wouldnt be gaining anything putting Grigo up there (as he would be in the regular season) and having Glencross not playing or on the 4th line.

I am ok with this move for the game tonight

Really liking the depth we've put together this year, how have Ratanen and Gigorenko looked in camp? Is Rantanen poised for a top 6 role? It's not like we've been unsuccessful throwing 18 year olds into a larger role in the past! Eventually I would like to see

If kid mack doesnt excell at centre we could even throw him on the wing with Landy and Soderberg. Making the bottom 6...

Depends, multiple categories? Varly will have solid numbers and face a lot of shots but might not have the shut outs or wins that Bob could get.

Just a small work pool, wins and shutouts. I work with a few plugs that can't understand Corsi, but they like hockey. Easy money.



Hunwick seems alrite, but PAP hasn't played OEL at all...

This team is an absolute joke right now. They only manage 1 goal in the last 5 games?!?!?! Who cares if it's pre-season?! When you can't even manage to score with the team they have which is just a few moves away from the actual regular season that's a problem. Sakic and Roy and proving that they were just players and have zero ability to piece together a team. This is going to be a very long season.

Considering asking for a refund on my season tickets based on this group of losers.

Anyone who is freaking out on pre-season, Jesus Christ, is this your first time watching hockey. Teams who are great at pre seasons can be disasters in regular season and vise versa. The past few games haven't instilled the greatest confidence but come on, let's not get the lottery picks and cancel season ticket talk until 20 games into the season.

and 2 years ago they were 2-4 in the preseason but go on to Win the Central.

In the past 6 years the Avs have never had a winning pre-season. Why is this shocking now?

Toronto had the best pre-season record last year....and what did that get them. Seriously its nothing to be on top of a bridge about.

Its not encouraging that they havent scored in 4 of their pre-season games this year. But think of the current roster

9 new players on this team out of 19 regulars fighting for ice time. When you turn over half of your roster, and no real lines or D pairings are carrying over from last season, chances are there will be some chemistry issues to begin with.

I like the way you think Coga. I would like to add that while scoring 1 goal in the last 5 is bad, it's not like we were playing Arizona or Toronto or whoever else is supposed to be bad this year. We played some pretty tough teams. If people need hope, watch some games from last year. We do indeed know how to score goals.

1st Flames game, Avs dominated and peppered something like 35 shots on Ortio but he stole that game
2nd Flames game, Avs sent all AHL players up there besides MacK and Grigo, playing against an almost Flames NHL roster, especially their D
Ducks game, we got bullied by the favourite in the West without our top pairing and missing some regular forwards.
Kings game, that was just Berra being Berra and the Kings playing suffocating hockey.

Like I said, with the roster reshaping that happened over the offseason, It is going to be a slow burn for ths team, with our big adds of Zads, Rant, Grigo...all under 21. There is going to be some growing pains for sure, its a young roster.
