Every player makes a mistake a certain % of the time. So a player who plays 6 min a game might make 1 mistakes....20 min player you'll see like 4-5....it amount of time with puck.

People forget that.

I remember Sopel getting blasted by fans for the 3 errors he made in a game. The coach pointed out he played like 23 min of heavy puck carrying. So it was a low percentage.

Canucks get hit by injuries and are out of the playoff picture, Hammer is sidelined for much of the 1st half of the season...Edm catches lightning in a bottle and are in a playoff spot (for reals, RNH looked amazing last night, that play where he outmusclsed Henrik caught my attn), but their D need an upgrade...so, they are happy to be in the dance and offer a 1st plus prospect for the rights to Hammer (hoping to extend him next season).
Not out of the realm of possibility.

But if Edm is in the playoffs then the 1st wont be a lottery pick. I think it's going to be real hard to trade for a lottery pick from now on, only teams in the playoffs would be willing to trade their 1st. So the only way we are going to get a lottery pick is if it's our own.

personally i would like to see him traded for a prospect... pouliot from pit, Milano from CBJ, honka from DAL... someone who's already 19 or 20 and ready to take the next step next year. Not 1 for 1 but we've got enough prospects to make it happen.

If he's traded for picks, 2nd and 3rd way more likely then a first, but with his contract and teams being tight for cap space...

I was actually talking to a friend here (die hard EDM fan) about this very thing last night. Most Oil fans still are very aware their D need major work, and he was hypothetically asking what it would take to get Hammer to come to EDM.
