Thanks CS , good blog.

I have not been impressed with the vets in the preseason for obvious reasons, they were not given the ice time.

You could see about halfway through the Sedins and Sutter starting to create chances. I think WD needs to take a longer look at that.

Vrbata , I am not a fan . I will be glad when he is moved. I don't know how WD can take a line that scored 10 PTs the game before and break it up to keep an old verbal vet happy. Even more so when it is his last year here.

I was surprised with how well Sutter covered the ice. Deep, behind the goal line in our end, the play goes the other way and he is behind the goal line in the offensive zone, Sedins having just entered the offensive zone....

The amount of line juggling we have seen, it is hard to develop chemistry. Curious to see if it can develop with Sutter and the Sedins.

Vrbata should have been moved in the off season, it will be hard to move him before tdl unless another team sees an injury and finds some cap space.

when considering trading guys....all the more reason to be more conservative when handing out contracts JB.

It will be a hell of a deal if he turns out to be a top line guy. He had had his chances in the last two games. He will start to bury them soon.

If it were regular season I would agree. There are no points awarded in the pre season so the rule of play your best combos doesnt apply. Instead, the coaches are trying to see where they can move players around... and *where they cant*. Full assessment.

I've been hearing a lot of people criticize line combos. It seems way out of place in the pre season. We don't need to make the regular season. I say let the coaches figure it out. Even bad combos are a discovery.

Vrbada would have poop if AV was running pre season. He should shut up and wait for his trade

Quick comment on a post of yours from last blog.

I don't think JB pulled the trigger to fast on Sbisa. Before this training camp and the surprise of Hutton and Bartowski , our D looked like crap. The signing turned out to maybe be a mistake , but it was the right move at the time.

That was definitely stuff I actually did like about AV....bad attitudes weren't tolerated.
Too bad his systems sucked and was clueless about adjusting games. Liked him otherwise.

Perhaps the signing turns out to be a blessing after all. If He focuses on physical play which hes good at and not on crap he sucks at he'll create room for other guys to use their skills.

Inversely The new guys may make him not resort to trying to play ways hes not capable of. Thus improving the entire D.

Hopefully that's the way it turns out. He was bad on the goal last night but it was one play

But it's always about %
Every player makes a mistake a certain % of the time. So a player who plays 6 min a game might make 1 mistakes....20 min player you'll see like 4-5....it amount of time with puck.

People forget that.

I remember Sopel getting blasted by fans for the 3 errors he made in a game. The coach pointed out he played like 23 min of heavy puck carrying. So it was a low percentage.

I like Edler Bartowski and Hutton down the left side.

Boston need D desperately . Maybe JB is talking with his old employers about Hamhuis#wishfulthinking

Can't have too much depth on D though.

Primary trade target should be Vey. But I can't see any takers either. Utica then.
I'm thinking it may wait till the 9 game mark for the kids. JB gives him chances to save him face. If they stick, Vey doesn't.

I could see a Dman traded. Oilers and Bruins need help. Vey would get nothing of interest

I know most here will hate this but I could see Hammer waiving to play in EDM for a high second and high third

Big day for former Canucks.

Lack signs a new deal, on national Taco day of all days.

And Kassian continues to flush his career down the toilet. What a dipstick. The Prust trade is looking batter all the time.

I was actually talking to a friend here (die hard EDM fan) about this very thing last night. Most Oil fans still are very aware their D need major work, and he was hypothetically asking what it would take to get Hammer to come to EDM.
Picks would be good.

Lack is like Kramer. He was in the way to sign a 6 million per year deal , but on the way the owner offer him 2.75 and 2 years of free tacos. He said giddy yup and signed on the spot
