With Robin Lehner apparently out long term, Buffalo Sabres' GM Tim Murray will likely be looking to bolster his goaltending depth. With 3 goalies on his NHL roster, perhaps GM Brad Treliving should place a cross-continental call. After the influx of veteran Ryan O'Reilly and rookies Jack Eichel and Samson Reinhart on the Sabres' center depth chart, perhaps Latvian All-Star Zemgus Girgensons is now available in a swap for a veteran goaltender like Jonas Hiller.

Traded Zadorov and Compher for overrated O'Reilly, who we in turn grossly over paid.
Traded a 1st in a deep draft for Lehner, who sucks and is now hurt.
Drafted Reinhart, who is slow and soft, instead of Bennett, who will be a killer in this league.
As much as I wanted Regier gone, we really ended up with a dud for a replacement. He's probably set this franchise back so far that by the time we can get good, Eichel will walk as a UFA.

Zadorov has done as much as ROR thus far, except ROR is above average at winning face-offs, Grigerenko didn't make the team, Reinhart will be fine (we hope), I can't disagree with the Lehner thing when Eddie Lack would have been a better choice, it's been two games.
ROR has looked listless, he should be fine, dude is young, fresh from embarrassment of the summer, Girgensons is the overrated one, I love the guy but what does he really do? Franson looks rusty and lost, Colovaicio looks destined for Rochester or the waiver wire, Pysyk and Risto have been meh to invisible, Bylsma changed the lines already. Give it a few games all around to everyone involved. Fans included.

As a defenseman myself, I know all too well the significance in the saying "when you make a good defensive play no one notices, when you make a bad play everyone notices." Didnt like moving zadorov, but youve gotta give to get. He rolled the dice on lehner. I think getting a replacement level goalie should be pretty easy if we need one, so rolling the dice on a kid that he scouted and thought highly of doesnt seem like a reach. Would have liked the d to have been better addressed, our d is bottom 5 in the league- gonna be tough for any goalie to have a good year..

I actually thought your D was looking so promising that you would pass the Oilers in the rebuild, regardless of how the McEichel draft turned out, because of Myers-Risto-Zadorov.
Bogo and Risto doesn't frighten me nearly as much.

I guess man, what does Girgensons do other than "be awesome"? He plays hard every other shift, doesn't deke anyone, doesn't pick top corners, doesn't dish fancy passes, never gets the Carrubba Collision of the game, again, what is so great about Zemgus? The Legend appears to be just that.....I like the guy, but he's a bit overrated IMO at this point. He's not a game changer, he's got a cool name and that's about it.

This might actually be a good opportunity for TM to try and correct his mistake with Lehner, who has mash potato concussion brains, a piss poor attitude, steadily declining numbers, sucks and and is now injured. The draft picks are gone, and Lack, Jones and Talbot ( the other back up goalies available last year- that were had for waaaay better bargains) are no longer available.
Jonas Hiller is a good goalie, but that's pretty short range thinking. Gibson will be costly but at least then you will have a sure fire goalie of the future that can play now.
