Man Tulowitzki is better than Escobar in the way that Ray Bourque is better than me. There isn't even a chance Esbobar is better. I'd also say that Goins D (on a team with 8 great bats) makes him better than Zobrist. As for Perez, he's good, but Martin is also better. - James_Tanner
escobar won player of the series.
ray bourque was better than almost very defender he played against over the course of his entire career. but he wasn't the better contributor in every single game/series that he took part in over every other player.
tulo being a hall of famer doesn't change the fact that escobar was the best player n that series. he just was. he set a playoff record for leadoff hitters!! and was amazing defensively too.
as far as the other two--cmon |

I don't agree with this. The Royals don't walk and small-ball is vastly overrated. Just my opinion, but if you replay this series over and over I think the Jays win most of the time. - James_Tanner
back to back world series trips proves this teams strategy and skills aren't "overrated" james. |

I'm just bustin balls JT. You've been talking up the Jays for a while now and have actually been to some games, which I respect.
Now the guys in The West here who actively hate on the sport, until the Jays reach the post-season, that's another story. |

I don't know why people, James in his blog, continually discredit the Ottawa Senators? They're a good young team. |

Fair to say Escobar was better this series and that the Royals were too. But going forward the Jays are the AL favs going into nexy year.

Good young team yes. High potential for sure. But unless they get wicked goaltending they aren't yet a playoff team. |

Have to admit I'm a bandwagon jumper when it comes to the jays. Used to be a fanatic but in the interest of keeping my marriage together I now limit myself to just hockey. This is the first year in a long time that the leafs haven't put my blood pressure up because I know what they're doing and agree completely. Normally when I watch them play my face turns beet red...that's not happening this year. You young guys probably think that's funny but my wife doesn't and threatens to pull the plug on the cable to save my life. I keep telling her that if I die watching the leafs I'll die happy Cheers |

Meh, I think they make the playoffs 100% this year.
Can't see them not being in the top 8 IMO

Is Michalek really outmatched on the top pairing? He's not a PMD but he isn't a possession blackhole either. |

He isn't bad. He's a good player but my problem is that its a rebuilding process and going with your old reliable pairing while taking top level ice time away from two or three young players isn't a smart long term move. In my opinion., |

Who else should/could be playing instead of him? I agree with some of the ARI forward vets being overrated, but I'm not sure Michalek is one of them. |

James,
While your trying to make Elliot out to be a good D-man because he is a swift skating puck moving defense man while continually throwing jabs at Grossman
Please note the fact that according to the stats Elliot has yet to take a defensive zone face off(9 OZ- 10NZ) and has a ZSO%rel of +53.85 while Grossman has a ZSO%rel of -31.69.
The bigger issue for the Yotes is the sub-par play of OEL. He will snap out of it(i'm sure of it) but he has been just plain "BAD"
How bad?
Grossman(relic, worst "D" on the team) CF%(5v5 ES) 46.34
OEL(second coming, best "D" on the team) CF%(5v5ES) 46.48
Through 7 games pretty even
So is Grossman better then your saying? Or OEL just as bad as Grossman through 7 games? |

I think you answered your own question, by calling OEL Bad and sub-par, through 7 games, yet pointing out he's still better than Grossman.
As you said, OEL will snap out of his funk. But Grossman is basically playing as well as anyone can expect. |

Exactly my point.
I am willing to bet that Grossman has been better then James would be willing to admit to.
The point being, He is not the reason the Yotes will continue to lose games. He is what he is!
OEL on the other hand has the ability to take over games and win close games all by himself. But has been flat out bad through 7 games. And is hurting his team more then Grossman at this point, Because of what is expected of him. |

They should and usually do play OEL with Stone. Although I would try him with Murphy and maybe even Stefan. |
