Yup! They're relying way too much on Martin and Vlasic. The rest of the "d" just isn't gettin' it done.. I'm wondering why DW hasn't looked at Tim Gleason. Seems like a good fit for the team - Bobbo
If D Dubs ever want a shot at das cup he needs to do something to fix this roster up a bit. D will fix the O. |

Dont you mean Quick is Jones light?
Not much of a difference here but tell yourself what you want.
G Martin Jones G | SJ 10 6-4 2.16 0.923
G Jonathan Quick G | LA 10 6-4 2.28 0.918

Ok let's compare 10 games of a first year starter against 10 games of a 2 time SC winner and 1 time Conn Smythe winner?? Really?? HAHAHA 🤔 But no, seriously you go ahead and tell yourself what you want |

I hate the Kings and LA with a passion, but I gotta say you're right here. Sharks fans are more optimistic then they should be. I know a couple people who think this team is really good if you give them time. LOL! The team has more holes then Swiss cheese and a third defense pairing. |

Tim Chiasson: San Jose Sharks: Thoughts On Martin Jones and the First Month
Play better. Just do it, check-mark. - Tim Chiasson
Here's an assignment for you Tim
You can one take the easy way out (most likely) or
B you can actually do the research.
Tell us which D pairings have been on the ice for the highest pct of goals allowed. Who has the best/worst corsi and fenwich numbers based on the amount of time on the ice?
Blame Dillon for sure but tell us who has better corsi and fenwick numbers 5 vs 5 Dillon or Martin? If you look at all the stats Martin is pretty damn low in every single one of them

I will keep saying it, trade for another stay at home guy and get rid of that embarassing bottom pair. Dillon just sucks ass in his own zone. Burns needs to stop tripping over himself and letting walk in goals.
Third and fourth forward groups need a change as well, I think these upgrades make us alot better. I would love to get the Melk man back, that would help push out a scrub. - BeastModeS62
Where and when have we heard this before? Trading for a stay at home defensemen? How many are available first off? But second you're are talking Doug Wilson here. His stay at home D men trades have gotten us Nic Wallin, and Kent Huskins. Wilson has done a horrible job finding this type of player. Outside of Vlasic he's failed miserably at drafting this type of defensemen, and failed miserably trading for this type as well.

Someones feelings are hurt, like I said 1 girl 2 cups, what happened in the past is whst happened in the past. Hold onto that, its 2015. No one even knows you won the cup in the lockout year. |

I like. Devils fans will say hes killing our youth!
Goodrow is OUT, next? - BeastModeS62
Well that would be a great start for sure if Goodrow was out. Except for Goldobin not a single player we've brought up (though he started the year year) is worth crap.
The problem is depth and the reason depth is an issue is because of poor drafting.
The SF Giants, and the Golden State Warriors have proven what happens when you draft correctly, as have the A's. On the other hand the 49ers and Raiders (before two years ago) have shown what happens when you draft poorly. The LA Kings, and Chicago Blackhawks have also shown what happens when you draft correctly, while the Oilers have shown the exact opposite. If we had a great GM, someone who understood how to draft and build through the draft like Nashville's assistant GM and former Shark, Paul Fenton then the Sharks would be a consistent Cup contender, not a cup pretender. I would put Fenton's drafting of goalies, and defense men up against any teams in the NHL.
And yes I hear well they've never won a stanley cup people. Correct they haven't however that is mainly because their ownership won't pay players and is cheap. But also its is also because the teams philosophy under former coach Ken Hitchcock was to play a DeBoer defensive based style of game. Fenton has really started to pick up the pace with his drafting of forwards as well in recent drafts. And with players like Pavelski, Couture, and Hertl, as well as Burns and Jones Fenton would lead this team to the promise land in no time at all. But unfortunately we're stuck with Douglass (Hair-tonic) Wilson.

You couldn't be more off your rocker! You have no freaking clue how much of a diehard Sharks fan I am, but with that being said I'm not blind and just willing to just call it all a process, maybe the biggest cop out of all. A process LOL!

Yes you keep saying how you have a better record, congrats you are the winner. I baited you with that comment, I knew you would have to say something. Hes making the changes we need but unfortunately we dont have any good defensive depth to change out the scrubs. Forwards he has a bit more to work with but not much. We have two starters that will be back in Cooch and Melk man but until then we are going to suffer loses when our top two lines dont produce because the bottom roster is killing us.
Now please stop with the you have a better record stuff because its crap and wont last, this team is as good as it played the first 4 games. It will come back, this team wont be playoff ready unless a few important changes are made. Being concerned less than a quarter through the season is ridiculous, we missed the playoffs once in 10 years and it wont happen this year... - BeastModeS62
As often happens you miss the point. It's not about that we have a better record as a rebuilding team with a bad roster then you. As I wrote I'm not cle ting that to continue because there is a large difference in talent. The point is our new coach is maximizing what he gets out of his players. Pete, not so much.

Sorry sweetheart. I'll be visiting every Sharks thread here for the season.
Sometimes you have to grow up and realize not everyone needs to have the same opinion as you. |

That sinking feeling I've had in the pit of my stomach since the Jones trade has yet to subside. The Sharks could become a lottery team really quickly. They are such a wild card that they could just as easily win the division though. A lot of it will come down to PDB and if he can get the most out of the players.
Biggest surprise has gotta be Ward. Biggest disappointments would be the power play, weak goaltending and our depth players proving a lot of the "Sharks have bad depth" preachers right. - Sharks_12
Great post as usual. The only thing I disagree with is bad goaltending. Overall, Jones has played fairly well with exception of a few games. Don't give up on him, the sample size is still way too small, and I say we still have no idea what we have in him. Time will tell.

Need couture back.
Our 3rd d pairing isn't very good but we didn't expect it to be. We could have used a player like zidlicky for sure.
Our 4th line isn't that bad. Everyone get off goodrows ass.
Goldobin doesn't deserve to be on the team for anyone that is crying about that.
Jones is still young and going to have problems but for the most part he has been playing well in his first season as a starter.
No one here gives a (frank) about the Devils.
There think I summarized up every toping in this thread. |

Please don't Really, unless you have something relevant to say about the team. Or maybe we'll all have to start giving the devils forum a visit every day. We can make that a sharks thread if you like. - sjsharksss

Listen,
This guy leaves a comment he subsequently says to specifically get a response and then becomes a crybaby when he doesn't like the response... which frankly I didn't think contained anything offensive. What I posted was relevant, hockey related and specific to the thread.
That said you want to stop by our place and talk hockey, that's fine with me. |
