Stafford was also addition by subtraction. He had a loser lazy mindset and needed to leave for his benefit and the organizations. I'm glad he has a chance to reset and that would not have happened here. IMO - Pope of Pucks
Couldn't you make the case that players like Ennis or even Girgensons to an extent had the loser mentality ingrained in them over the past 2 seasons?
I did not want Stafford back, but he does matter in this equation for the simple fact that we need Kane to be much better than him to justify the deal
I think it depends on ice time. The 4th line isn't kept off the ice at the end of the game. They seem to have developed some chemistry between these lines. As long as they roll 4 lines all game, it's not too bad.

Less than 10 mins against the isles. Gionta got 15:30. It's Bylsma-Craig Adams 2.0

Are you assuming Stafford would have singed here again? I'm really not so sure. And if not, then who gives a flying you know what?

No, and I didn't want him to.
My point is that Kane needs to be a serious upgrade from someone like Stafford to justify the trade. We made this deal because our wingers like Stafford did not produce enough for this team to take a step forward

That's not entirely accurate. The other problem was when our wingers weren't scoring they weren't doing much of anything. A problem that likely won't happen with Kane

It can't happen when he isn't playing.
If Stafford plays 75-82 average games and scores 20-25 goals while Kane plays 60-65 games and produces near the same, it's not much of an upgrade.
Kane also has never played in the post season. Who knows if he can even stay healthy enough when we are there.

I don't disagree but my point was when Kane isn't scoring he's still contributing positively to the team. Stafford not so much. The injuries are a concern though yes. Hopefully he keeps those to the regular season

Stafford wasn't exactly Hodgson away from the puck.
I think Kane is much better all around than Drew Stafford. So most likely it's a non-issue. The health is very concerning to me though.

We all get it by now. He hates the trade. He's done nothing but female dog about it day in and day out since it went down. After reading the same freaking posts for the last 8 months, I just can't take it anymore.
Also, I've had a totally poop week, so my tolerance is at an all time low.

quote=nikel]Yeah, so far we got sheet in return for Stafford, Myers, and the 1st we sent to the Peg.
and Stafford is playing decent
And again.......I was not the person who brought up the topic

I didn't see the injury myself but from my understanding anybody else in that position probably gets hurt as well, one of those part of the game incidents.
