My balance is far too good for that.
My weakness lies in always attempting to correct mythical perceptions based on concrete narratives that tend to get harder the more often they're read on forums such as this one - Ihateallofu
Ah yes, the meme known as the "standings,"
And the corruption said "standings" have on peoples perception of the game.

Huh?
I think you vastly misunderstood my entire point. I'm not even sure what you thought you read when u wrote this retort.
The standings actually explicitly back up my claim that the oilers deserve no player(generational or otherwise) any less than any other team.
But The reasons behind why someone generally thinks the oilers should be better is the part that I try and correct. Because as I said, far more often than not it's nowhere near the real reasons.
People love simple cause and effect without any critical thought. This leads to false conclusions

I don't care WHY they have sucked for so long. I'm saying they shouldnt.
you still haven't even told us what those reasons are that people believe. and you haven't elaborated on what the conspiracy theory is there, Fox Mulder…..im sure "the truth is out there."
Seriously. Just go back to your own board. No one cares.

You clearly do as you responded twice. As did the original poster, who submitted his thoughts.
You understand that just saying "no one cares" doesn't actually mean anything if you respond in kind?
The cowboy keystrikers on hb never cease to make me chuckle.
"Grr, someone with another view that cheers for another team."
As far as the reasons- there are many. But i clearly stated that I can only guess his tired narrative (as I assume I can guess yours) and it's flat out wrong. If he or you want to enlighten me, id be happy to evicerate those points. (But of course you don't care.....)
And There's no conspiracy. Just a little logic and reason as opposed to the simple cause and effect most subscribe to. Maybe you see any critical thought as some some sort of conspiratorial talk? If so, You should try and break yourself from that way of thinking

Facts: Four #1 overall picks in the last 6 years. 15 games played so far. 10 points.
Critical thought would lead someone here to post things such as: Wow, us Buffalo fans are jealous for all the great draft picks Edmonton has had, but if it means being worse than our team, who just stunk up the NHL on purpose for 2 years, then we're glad to be where we are now and going forward and we're more than happy to see Edmonton screw it up over and over and over.
You and Panacea have some very loooooong conversations in the future, I predict.
I'm down 24-0, but looking over our rosters, we only have 1 person the same, and he only has 1 4-game player (I have 5 + a goalie)...hope it helps me out.

yup:
during the mid-seventies "slapshot" nhl, schoenfeld had to deal with the likes of the big, bad bruins featuring carol vadnais, wayne cashman and terry o'reilly as well as the broadstreet bullies featuring fly-boys dave schultz, bob kelly and don saleski...he had that monumental task while blocking shots, clearing the front of the net and defending his 1971 folksie music release, schony...
mike ramsey may be the most underrated sabre of all-time...an integral part of the u.s.a.'s 1980 "miracle" team, he relished his role as a top-notch defensive-defenseman in both the olympics and the pros...and boy could he block shots, completely giving up his body shift-in, shift-out...he was a four-time all-star and was selected for the '87 rendez-vous team vs. the soviet union - Michael Pachla
Nope, he did it for the Jets game. He just has to have a circus around him ( Rex) - SABRES 89
What Rex was saying is he does it for every game - names players who played on the opposing team in the past or has some connection to that city as captains:
"That's right. Richie Incognito -- he of the infamous Dolphins bullying scandal -- was one of them. But he was joined by other ex-Fish like kicker Dan Carpenter (played for Miami from 2008-2012), wide receiver Marcus Thigpen (2012-2013) and Charles Clay (2011-2014).
The fifth captain was Seantrel Henderson, who if you remember, played his college ball at the University of Miami."
