Size matters - VANTEL
I agree the preference is bigger defense, but when Hutton and Tanev at 6'2", Edler 6'3", you can afford a 5'10" guy like Subban on the back end if he can play at that level |

If you're going to have a dman under 6ft just make sure it's not Weber. |

I still think he's better as a winger. Look at videos of his play and going behind the net to make a scoring play....looks like a winger. He'd prob be a good one too by the looks of it. His chances of success are higher as well. |

I think in terms of potential/ceiling, I think Boeser and Demko are the top two prospects in the system, followed by JM, JV and BH. Its oddly exciting to have some prospects that are true blue chip value that actually belong to Vancouver... - WhiteLie
It is just strange when you have a list with guys already playing in the NHL like JV and JM, while Demko and Boeser are still in college. Different stages of development.
Don't get me wrong, both sound like great prospects. |

Shirokov was screwed my our management. He was gunna be our best scorer. I remember him scoring in back to back games then they sent him down. - SRam19
That had to be in a pre season because he only just got his 1st NHL game... thats not a big deal or screwing him. With his ceiling and where he's been in development in the past... it's a decision GM's and coaches make often...
The mother of all bullpoop with the pulling a rookie out and sending him down was with Grabner. AV would not give him a chance. Grabner scored 4 goals in one game and wasnt given another chance. He then was dumped and went on to score 34 goals in his rookie season and play over 300 reg season and 17 play off games so far... Here... thats monumental compared to what we get excited about with our prospects.
I don't recognize today's Grabner at all. He doesnt score as much but he learned the defensive side of the game... bulked up... plays physical on the boards... he's learned how to play hockey more than anyone ever gave him credit for.... not that he is big impact player or anything but he was tossed out of Vancouver as a bust more or less because AV was a pig headed piece of poop when it came to our kids. This is why I hysterically laugh when people give WD a hard time about our prospects... I always ask... compared to which NHL coach?

I dont think defensemen translate so well to forwards. I think a lot of people say Karlson would be a good forward, but its a different game and instead hes a game changer on the back end. Burns was the only one I can think of to succeed but he's a physical guy that could get in on the forecheck
EDIT: Yes I forgot Big Buff - also good |

Nope, but I forgot about him! Still goes to my point that the bigger physical guys would be better suited to translate between the positions than smaller/skilled defense |

Ryan Johansen demoted to the 4th line.
Ahhh Torterella, never ceases to amaze me. He probably didn't block a shot on one shift.
I wonder what he would cost? |

We would need to dump salary. I RJ's price would be steap, but as long asd BH,JM,JV,BH aren't in the deal, we give them w/e they want besides 1st round pick(don't want to ship out a lottery ticket) |
