Thats right... Benning wanted the NTC or no deal...
I think I got in trouble for calling you an idiot last time you said this so I'll pass on pointing that fact out this time just to be safe. - boonerbuck
Or... for guys that are 26 and will have a productive 4 years based on their sample of play at a reasonable salary given the fact that the cap will likely rise (as it has every year since the new CBA) perhaps?

I think it just goes to show Benning is bad at contract negotiations. I've really only seen him play hard ball(or seem to play hardball) with Yannick Weber. Sbisa and Dorsett's agents said that the contract talks were very easy, same with Miller(if i remember correctly).
I think we could have gotten that contract done with out an NTC. I am a firm believer that NTC/NMC should only be used on the ones who will be your superstars. - Retinalz
Sutter wasn't going to sign without one. He was very emphatic because he's already uprooted his family a few times very recently. What you think is wrong.

No reason to play hardball with every contract. That is not the sign of a good negotiator. The sign of a good negotiator is actually to make the other party feel happy while getting what you want.

Benning is actually doing some decent contracts. Sbisa is not making the same screw ups as last year, is the only Dman will guts and that can make a decent hit. 3.6 for two more years for the only sandpaper on the back end, I'll take it.
Bartowski, 1.7 brings speed and some offence , still young and can on occassion be abrasive .
Sutter top 6 plays all situations , young and part of the future core. 4.3
Last year people on here said if Dorsett wanted 4 mil sign him. We signed him at 2.6 . To me that's his worst signing.
Prust . People laughed. We are a more difficult team with him in the line up
He is nowhere near as bad as some fans think he is.

I agree, I've liked Prust and clearly we made the right call letting Kassian be a f-up in another city (much as I liked Ogre from the nerds movies being on our team). Dorsett for 2.6.... big stretch for me, much more than Sutter or Sbisa, Sbisa's been alright so far and he is young.

Really? Looks to me like a big fast versatile defensive center, which to me means he can play 2nd or 3rd line be a good pk guy and take clutch faceoffs for at least the 4 years he's signed. You do realize he's only 26 right? - neem55
I wish he was big. He may be tall, but he is not BIG, he is 15 pounds too light, thats probably why he gets knocked off the puck pretty easily.

Are we watching the same player?! I haven't seen him get knocked off the puck much at all, in fact he looks annoying as frank to play against due to his speed long reach and defensive acumen. He may not hit, I'll give you that, but he battles and IMO seems to win a lot of puck battles.

Sutter isn't even married, and he doesn't have any kids.

This is accurate, I don't really care personally though. I wasn't sold on Sutter when we got him but IMO he's a gamer and brings a lot of things to the table for a 26 year old pro. I'm happy to have him for his prime, good role model for the kids as he clearly is a "anything to win" type guy.
