What we need is clarity on Nylanders ELC, the slide rule only makes sense if the player is going back to junior or back to Europe.
Not if he's burning a year of that contract. - the_eye
Nylander's ELC won't kick in this season. Next year he'll be 20 and the ELC kicks in whether he's in the AHL or NHL. But let's be realistic, next year he'll be in the NHL on the first year of his 3 year ELC. |

I thought something like 60% of teams have less than 1 miliion in cap space. Trades for guys with salary and term are becomming next to impossible unless your taking salary back. Bozak and Lupol will be very hard to move because of this. |

I have said this before, the Jets are developing two highly ranked Goalies in Hellybuck and Comrie. The Leafs would be wise to see if a deal can be worked out there. i think Hellybuck would be much togher to get but I wonder what the price for Comrie would be. I like him better than goalies like Subban and Fucale |

Actually his contract started this year, last year the slide rule worked because he was in Europe.
So I don't get it. |

It was pointed out that jurnior aged players (nylander) who don't play 10 nhl games slide. His contract slides this year as it dis last year.
Same thing happened with jurco. |

But I think it only slides if they go back to junior, or in Nylanders case back to Europe.
He is being paid this year, so that would be the first year of his ELC. |

afterall, a goalie is quite often the most important player on your team. |

Not according to the evidence posted. Specifically says that junior age players that don't play nhl games (that ahl doesn't count) slide.
Happened with Tomas jurco. Happened to nylander last year. |

Last year he wasn't paid, but i found it anyway.
His salary slides an extra year as well as his contract.
Second Slide: If an 18-year-old player (at the time of contract signing) has his contract slide and then doesn’t play in at least ten games in the second season either, his contract will slide again.
**Contract Terms: The player’s base salary “slides” in all cases. Signing bonuses do not slide, but a team and player can agree to contrary terms regarding games played bonuses and performance bonuses. This is not common though.
So if he doesn't get in 10 games he doesn't get his salary?
Also his contract won't count against the 50 contract limit cause it won't kick in till next year. |
