The Pens had a reputation for being notoriously chippy the past couple of years...especially when the game wasn't going their way. Discipline was a big issue. - Blackstrom2
Just when Dbags like Ovie try and chop Letangs foot off or Dubinsky is Dubinsky. It just bugs me so much that Dubinksy is the reason they scored in OT tonight. If I ever meet that guy I am going to punch him in the face. |

I don't think dupuis is working on the 1st. I'd like to see:
Kunitz-Sid-horn
Perron-malkin-kessel
Dupuis-bonino-bennett
Sprong-Cullen-fehr
The team has an abundance of right wingers, so start getting sprong used to the left. - drummer829
Why in the world would you put Kuntiz on the top line, he has what? 1 goal in the last 30+ games....why not give Sprong a try, or leave BB up there for a bit. I don't think this coach is going to last, I just don't. Why you put an anchor out there with Letang and Sid is beyond me. |

Bonino has been fine but he's drowning out there. Sprong needs to be in the games, Sundquist needs to be in the games. I still love the idea of bringing up Simon to play on the Crosby line, at least try it for a game or 2, what could it hurt? - Dcoms
I didn't want to make it sound like Bonino was the problem, quite the contrary, Bennett disappears in these types of games. Kunitz still has a lot of heart and is one of the few on this team that can play in a game like tonight, he simply is not the player he was. |

What?
Did the media, fans, and the team not talk about how they needed to play more disciplined? I distinctly remember you guys talking about it a lot. |

I dont see what that has to do with what I am saying. My argument is that night in night out you dont know what kind of reffing you are going to get. One night they're calling every stupid little thing, then the next they're only calling dismemberments. This is something that affects every team in the league. |

Tends to happen when you're in your mid 30's and you put your body through a dozen + NHL seasons. Whats amazing is that people here actually act surprised that Kunitz and Dupes aren't the player they were when they were 30. |

Who wants to see CBJ claw their way back into the PO picture? They would be an absolute nightmare for the Pens.
Btw... just caught highlights on NHL Net - said Dubinsky has a hearing w/ the league (tomorrow). We'll go 4 gms (same as Byfulgien http://video.nhl.com/videocenter/console?id=797504)
There's a lot back/worth on this board about grit/ skill......how about muscle/ fortitude to stand-up for your teammates. Teams will continue to take liberties against PIT, especially if its known that no-one defends/ battles against such activities. I'm not getting into the deterring semantics; NHL has always had a "self-policing" aspect to it. Pens are soff - need to show some toughness. If no-one is going to drop the gloves, then go and pummel your opponents best player. Turnabout it is fair play.

i feel like you have an objective point here. the pens deservedly so had a repuation the past few games being stomp their feet, pestilent little brats. however, this season that has not been the case.
dubinsky is a (frank)ing piece of poop who honestly needs someone to crack his vertebrae. |

i agree with pretty much everything you say. and i honestly dont even think you advocate trading malkin because you hate him like a lot of people suggest, but i do think its telling that he was the only one other than hornqvist to pick up the flag and charge when poop hit the fan.
guy may go pouty face when his dipsy doodle poop doesnt work all the time, but the guy does care and have heart. |

As opposed to what there Sammy? Going after him and forgetting to play the game? If it was 4-1 for either team Dubinsky would have got his a$$ kicked, it wasn't and any little run at that little POS could have resulted in the penalty that cost them the game. IT's not the heart of the team that is in question here at all, it's the legitimacy of the NHL for allowing that to go on with only a mild slap on the wrist to Dubinsky and nothing to Hartnall for Spearing Fleury out of making a save, This is just a failure of the NHL across the board. The Penguins responded the way they should have given the circumstances. The last thing they should have done is have that POS goad them into a stupid penalty or 2. Use your head when you type comments man most of the time you sound stupid. |

#19 - #9 - #14 - #4 - #12 should rightfully volunteer themselves for scratches. None of these clowns belong in the NHL anymore. I guess the silver lining is that most, if not all, we not be part of the roster next year. |

skilled muscle is a premium valued asset in this league. its hard to find, so you cant really fault the pens too much, because its not as if these guys grow on trees. but they have none of it. and havent in some time.

That is total BS. It's worse to get sucked into a sideshow when the game is on the line. This is an NHL issue not a Penguins one and if Goofinsky is suspended then the Jackets should have to forfeit this win because he made the play to end it and he should have been tossed out of the game. |

i dont think the pens played awful. i think they responded decently on the ice. ill fully admit that if someone wants to tell me well, the regular season is a prep for the playoffs so act now as you want to act then. that is a logical response. ill also admit that i favor a style of play that most people would find pussified by their standards. however, i would have been fine losing the 2 points or 1 point or whatever if the entire team would have just devolved and did so and so to dubinsky. im typically not in favor of this type of junk at all, but its been egregiously repeated by this player again and a (frank)ing gain. |

against virtually anyone else and im with you 1000 percent. ive actually been proud of how theyve responded to this type of poop from other teams. not falling apart. little chirping by horns. but overall, just playing through it. if they could make teams pay on the PP, all the better, but thats a different issue. but yeah, im with you. dont lose your cool. play your game. move on and dont unravel.
however, against this team. more specifically THIS (frank)ing rat(frank) little female genitalia player. I'd gladly sacrifice 2 points. enough is (frank)ing enough. |

Beleskey on Stepan reminds me a lot of Doan on Letang. Caught watching, maybe a tad late. Brutal result.
The fallout of tonight's events should be comical.
Can hear Rags fans wondering what the big deal is on Dubi's crosscheck. Staal doesn't even get a penalty for doing it. |

Dude, its a late November game. Quite acting like this game is critical to how the season ends up. This isn't the NFL where every game matters. All teams never put 100% effort on the ice every game. The best teams will have garbage games throughout the season. Just too many games.
Have you ever heard of Marty McSorley? He had a very long NHL career and had stints with the Kings and Pens for the specific role so players like Dubinsky wouldn't do what happened tonight. McSorley would literally put you in a coma. Pretending that the NHL has moved on from that era is naive. These events still happen and will always happen. Its the same good ol boys that run the show. You can cry all you want how its not good for the game and bla bla bla but it has and will always happen. The NHL doesn't care and neither does the NHLPA. So why should the fans?
Every time Dubinsky should have been on the ice after the play, gloves should have dropped. It will just happen again next time they play. |

Pens have had composure/ discipline melt-downs - especially during post season. During a early season game in Nov, have at it. Stick-up for your mates; first it was #3 and now #87. I'm guessing #58 is next. This is the NHL - it's not a power-puff league. Officiating is horrid, so there is not guarantee for pay-back via PP. The Pens are not sending any sort of 'message' that cheap shots are not accepted.
I'm not advocating goons --> that describes Dubs play. I have zero problem however, w/ fighting + defending a teammate given these circumstances. If fighting isn't an option, then take the game/ hits to their best player. Rough'em up.

You're right I dont hate Malkin. I think he is the most talented player in the league. Pens problems is just too much high level talent and not enough to spread down the roster. They are too small, slow and weak.
Dupes, Kuni, Fehr, Bonino needed to earn their pay check tonight. Espicially Dupes and Kuni. Neither can do what they did 3-4 yrs ago, so they need to change their game. |

If you're an opposing coach, your game plan is to run 58, 87, and 71. Odds are they will take dumb penalties and there won't be any retaliation. |
