how can you seriously say kessel have been a disappointment... he has been the 2nd best forward on our team and 4th best player on our team... really need to revalue your expectations if you say kessel is a disappointment. the whole team have been really really bad especially the coaches. if you say either of dumo, kessel, malkin and Maf have been bad you should just leave this board forever. - martox
Not sure what you have been watching, but if I am paying a sniper to snipe, then he should have a killer shot. Have you not seen his one-timers? Scuderi and Orpik have harder one-timers than him. What about all the damn off-sides? |

Because they are paying him 6.8/yr, traded away a 1st, Kap, Harrington and roster guy so Kessel can be on pace for 50 some pts this year? No thanks.
I just find it interesting that Babcock comes to the Leafs and Kessel is out the door. Something to think about. |

so what is sid on pace atm? what is malkin on pace for atm? what is the TEAM on pace for at the moment. kessel has played good. malkin has played great. kessel has made us better than we would have been without him and we lost almost nothing getting him.

Interesting article about the NHL and concussion issue and the players law suit.
http://www.tsn.ca/former-...ecret-nhl-emails-1.402067
Here's an excerpt...
It also sent Colin Campbell, then the NHL's senior vice-president of operations, to his computer, where he exchanged emails about the incident with Mike Milbury, a former NHL player, coach and general manager turned TV analyst.
Milbury asked Campbell, "Is intent to injure a stand alone call?"
As part of his reply, sent six days after the incident in a March 13, 2010, email, Campbell wrote: "Let's face it Mike... we sell rivalries, we sell and promote hate..."
So I guess we know why the NHL only suspended Dubinsky 1 game.
These owners are so dumb, they're going to lose a lot of money before it's all over. |

Well, I can definitely see why they think it's the case. I mean, "I went to a fight and a hockey game broke out" is a well-known phrase for a reason in the US. |

He wasn't exactly free. And they did pay a hefty price for a guy that isn't on pace for 30g for 6.8 until 2020. He also has a NTC, so he can just coast around Pitt all he wants. He has not made this team any better. This team is playing worse than the farm team did last year.
I would have preferred paying 1/3 the price for Oshie and getting a better Dman on the roster. But I guess you're the type that is willing to buy whatever crap the Pens sell. |

You're talking about a Penguins team that has spared no expense at making 87 comfortable, acquiring players to try to fit with him, and keeping his insurance policies in 14 and 9 around if it doesn't work out. Kessel played with 87 what, 9 games? What's the point anymore. Bad money after good.
I would say that "a better D" would be welcomed at the beginning of the season but honestly they would have just given Dumoulin's spot to him and more than likely paired him with Scuderi. Scuderi was always going to be in the lineup. |

These guys act like they're living in the 50's or 60's and that's going to cost them a ridiculous amount of money. It's comical. I wish I was an attorney for some of these plaintiffs. Those guys are going to be rich. |

This organization is a mess ... for years to come. Playing the dinosaurs because of poopty contracts is the status quo. And every year young talent is used to acquire more dinosaurs. And it continues ...

West Coast trip predictions? I wouldn't be surprised if it ended 0-4 or 0-3-1? Anything above that would be a bonus. Although that bonus might mean that the idiot coach is here to stay longer than he should. |

This was my point in last week's rant. Keeping chasing outside solutions without ever looking in the mirror as to what's happening in house first. |

Geno also made a mirror reference in his rant. Every damn person in that organization should look in the mirror. They are treating the paying customers like crap by putting this poop show on the ice.

Jeebus. Give me back the Lang/Straka/Slegr/Moran/Morozov years. I would be less angry.
I wish we had a Kasparaitis on the team |

From http://www.nhl.com/ice/bl...43279&navid=nhl:topheads:
"Carolina Hurricanes captain Eric Staal wants to be in the Stanley Cup Playoffs this season and many more after. He'd like to get there with the Hurricanes. That's where things get tricky for him."
If that is the case, he should stay clear of the Penguins |

Here's what happened: After loss to Boston, Dan Bylsma said to the press: "Fleury is our guy going forward". I made a face like a cat's a$$. Why is Dan talking about 'we' as though he was going to have a job? He and Ray Shero were surely going to be fired, along with team doctors, training staff, and development crew. What was he talking about? He was surely going to be fired. And Fleury was <.890 S% again.
Huge turning point. Kunitz, Dupuis on expiring contracts. Orpik, Niskanen soon to follow. Paul Martin. The only asset that came back from letting 3 top-four defenders leave was the 3rd rounder from Buffalo when they hired Disco.

I'm not going to pretend that I know what is going on in the locker room as to what are the issues or who Is a cancer. All I can judge is what's displayed on the ice really. But, if this is a full fledged Crosby issue that started years ago with all of his failed line mate changes. Then this should have been addressed seasons ago and it wasn't. That goes on the shoulders of all the staff and management. Especially now if the players like Malkin whether on purpose or not is taking it to the media and fans. Nothing good comes from this mess really unless pride is swallowed and everyone starts fighting back and puts this beef to bed. |

Look at the players that have been on the Hawks cup teams and then left. You could make 1/2 roster of those guys and it would be a decent team. Players the Pens would love to have but instead in true Pittsburgh fashion, if it worked then it will work in the future. |

Ray Shero and his brutal drafting history is the root cause. No need to look any further than that. Not to mention crap contracts for old guys. |

I made a long list of them once. Imagine the broken heartedness which would occur if the Penguins had and traded Versteeg, Ladd, or Sharp. We lived through Sutter. Can you imagine strategically trading Troy Brouwer or David Bolland? How about Brian Campbell? Brandon Saad? Byfuglien?

Versteeg, Frolik, Saad, Sharp, Ladd, Buff, Stalberg, Kopecy, all those guys the Hawks moved on from and are still good. |

You can only move on from players if you have a viable replacement waiting. Any time you dip into the FA market, there's a pretty good chance it won't work out.
