Not a whole lot of positives from that game. Turn the page move on.

I'd like Cameron to get back to his lines he had a week ago and stop experimenting with depth players. I don't usually rant about coaching making line shuffles, but last night it seemed to happen a little too much. No need to rock the boat too much when the team is playing decent.

Saturday should be a much better effort against a "true" rival.

There were rumblings from Bruce Garioch at the intermission about possibly sending Lazar down to try and get some scoring touch. I'd be all for this. He'd get 1st line minutes down there. Even if it's only for a couple of weeks.

Ottawa played well, a lot of brain cramps across the board. Got beat by a hot goalie who seems to have our team psyched out, moving on.

Bingo is a gong show of a team right now, don't know why everyone is so eager to send Lazar down - who's he going to play with that will give him his scoring touch back? We don't even want a 12th forward from Bingo that's how bad they have been performing.

And what's wrong with a young player struggling when your team is scoring and solid in the standings? That's normal - don't know why everyone is so worried about Lazar, he's just a 20 year old and wasn't projected to be a big scorer, he's supposed to be the support guy on a good line, and he's doing that.

Zibby is more cause for concern, he's not doing anything out there for the ice time he's getting with elite players.

Instead of Spezza & Bishop we have Lindberg, Paul, Gagne.
+ Lehner was traded for White. I'm sure Anderson would have brought us back a 1st too but who know's

I'd say the Sens outshooting their opponent is a positive. Keeping the Bolts to a reasonable shot count is good.

Sens had some great in tight chances, but Bishop is good in those situations. Normally high percentage areas aren't so high percentage with a goalie that big.

I'll admit that, away from the puck, Jared Cowen has been better this year. He doesn't look as lost or left in the middle of nowhere ( covering no one ), nearly as often. The giveaways, and flubs with the puck though...mother of all the hockey gods...so painful.

I don't buy into the forced NHL division rivalries. Rivalries are only built on playoff history and even then, some don't materialize.

It's too bad that hockey largely requires you to try and get and handle the puck. Saying Cowen is playing alright away from the puck is like saying a goalie is playing well with no shots being faced.

That's not entirely true...lots of players have made a pretty good living being a defensive/physical presence while handling the puck like a hand grenade.

I'd agree with that up until a couple of years ago. The Hal Gills, Darrian Hatchers, etc wouldn't stand a chance in todays game. You have to have some level of competence with the puck to be successful in the longterm.

But I do think if we tied Cowen's hands behind his back and let him play he'd be just as effective. I guess that says something.

For Dmen, play away from the puck is pretty important. Especially around your own net. If you lose coverage of a player near your net the puck will end up on the stick of that player, and he will be free to direct it at the net. It's pretty important.

However, so is not simply giving the puck to the other team over and over. Cowen has two modes with the puck. Dump or cough it up.

I get the idea. It's important. But the puck is going to come at you at some point. You have to have some idea what you're going to do with it and execute.

I think it should be noted, his play away from the puck has been ok. Not great, but not terrible. Combine that with his horrible puck abilities it equals out to being bad. Boro is in the same group, but has way less expectations and is much more physical than Cowen will ever be. There's a reason why people keep saying we need a d-man, these guys just aren't cut out for the minutes they are receiving.

Oh, I totally agree. When I said better, it was in comparison to previously. I'd not say great either. I'd say good is stretching it.

Peumple and Prince should be in the line up and that big cement head David Drusknski should be in the AHL for life. Boro has no bizz being on forward. The Mickey Mouse show won't work against top teams and NY and Tampa proved that.
