Unlike Stoll, Kassian is new to the substance abuse thing, we may have a Theo Fleury 2.0 on our hands. Less skill of course but I'll take the chance. What's there to lose? Glass gets cut and Kassian starts bulldozing his way around - Anthony5967
I just don't see how the team can get rid of Glass so to me it's not an idea to entertain
Idk if any of you suggested this but I know this probably wouldn't work but I'd try and work the phones and a way to cut bait with Glass and bring in Kassian who was just waved. Kid is still young, getting about 1.7 this year before he's an RFA. He is strong on the wall, hits people, more effective player than Glass and scored 10 last year in 42 games. I would think that's a good move. - Anthony5967
There is no guarantee he would make it to the Rangers in the claim process. I doubt they cut Glass and risk not having either.
Per the CBA: "If a player is considered to have a long-term injury (causing them to miss a minimum of 10 games and 24 days), they can be placed on the Long-Term Injury Reserve (LTIR), which can be used to receive cap relief." Stepan is out again tonight, which will be his ninth game missed and 18th day sidelined. If he does not play against Minnesota on Thursday or Winnipeg on Friday, he will have missed 11 games and 21 days. His next opportunity to play will be Monday against Washington. If he missed that, he will have hit the requirements of 10 games and 24 days. I hope Stepan plays in one of the next three games or not placing him on LTIR, which would have created cap room for Skjei and enabled Jarret Stoll to be traded rather than just waived for nothing, will look foolish.

I think Stoll was waived because of the Girardi injury, they had no cap room to bring up a defenseman and couldn't wait

If Stepan was on LTIR, Skjei could have been called up as there would have been enough cap room. Right now, Stepan salary is still counting against the cap

If Stepan is only day to day maybe he plays by the weekend?

but wouldn't they have had to wait until he was out the 10th game he missed?
