On Vrbata-Eller: There isn't much chance Marc Bergevin moves a young, versatile forward like Eller with term for an older rental in Vrbata. Especially since Vrbata has only been marginally more effective as a scorer this season. Montreal would need a futures piece to offset the age and lack of control.
On Prust: The biggest considerations for moving Prust were cap hit and budding depth, especially on LW. Neither of those situations have changed, so its unlikely there's interest from Montreal to get Prust back, as much as he was a good locker room guy.
On Kassian: The talk from Montreal is that he's not close to game shape yet. Any team that considers picking him up needs to consider that he'll constitute a dead roster spot for a time. Montreal is likely sending him down so he can work his way back to game shape without hurting the team. - BleedingHabs

Cheers, that seems pretty on point. Isn't Prust a center not a left wing though? Either way, I see your point. - neem55
Prust plays center for you guys? He almost never did here, to much responsibility for him to be effective. At any rate, he's not better than Plekanec, Desharnais, Galchenyuk or Mitchell, so he wouldn't play there anyway. |

Always thought that Cracknell was a winger and Prust has been taking faceoffs. Canucks.com says you're right though. |

To Prust? I've stopped actually because then I think about how bad that line is and the fact that he doesn't actually stand up for his team mates.

Seems like Hab fans are ambivalent about whether Kassian is getting conditioned or released. Some think that based on Bergevin's tone when he had the presser about Kassian going to rehab that he doesn't want him on the team at all
Would make sense to see if anyone wants to take him off their hands, and if not bury him in the A and see if he can turn things around |

He'll be traded on or before TDL for pick/s, just a stepping stone to Auston Matthews.
Edit: did I stutter? |

Honestly I'm shocked the Leafs didn't snag Kassian for a tour in the press box with Corrado. |

Them too.
I wish Benning would just come out and say we are going to ride out this season and sick to drafting and development.
This way we wont expect trades and we can all get on board behind them of staying pat - VANTEL
Why would he do that? It puts him in a situation where other GM's have confirmation he's given up on the year, they can then lowball him on players they want, like Vrbata.
It's far too early in the year to just flat out give up on the season! Continue to try and win with what you have, while fully understanding losing may make the future better, but don't make any nutbar decisions like trading away youth for a fix it now situation. |

Imagine snagging Stoll and Kassian in the past few days my god the No.5 Orange and the Roxy would have been filling JB's pockets with donations. |

Damn I wish we could get Kassian back but pre-"back injury" during the playoffs.
I do not know if that Kassian exists.
Honestly ---- and understand that I know nothing about the 'behind the scenes that created the Prust trade in the first place ---- we are trending downward pretty fast. Why not take a flyer on him. Treat him like a rookie in need of ice time and if anything happens to his sobriety, I do not think that his suspension costs against the cap.
