Damn that Barzal kid looks like a good player. I really wish Benning would trade the Sedins to the NYI for a cash of players.

We are missing 3 out of our top 4 defenceman, or number 2 center and hank is playing through injury, any team would lose lots under those conditions, jb would have to mortgage the future to replace those players and he shouldn't.
You play to win, if you get dealt a bad hand play through it, it may get better fast or get worse.
In any case don't sell until the deadline when is a sellers market, just hold firm and see how the ball bounces.
I'm a fan of trying to win whether you lose our not, if you try to lose and cheer for losing you become what you cheer for. ...... like the Laffs or the oil.

For years and years Chicago and LA have gone out to injure the twins. They no there is no pushback from the rest of the team . Nolan , Brown , and now McNabb have all targeted Hanks head. Bolland and Keith go after Daniels head. Canucks the spend a good chunk of the game trying to retaliate the guy that hit them and lose focus on the game. This has been part of Sutters strategy as well as Coach Q.

Sometimes you have to go over the line. Maybe it is time to send these two teams a very clear message , you go after our star players we go after yours. I am sure Sutter would think twice if Kopitar had to miss a stretch of games because of a well placed knee on knee. Kane could be out weeks with a Charlie horse.

They are targeting the two star players of the Canucks by going after their heads. Canucks have been always a big threat to both teams, so targeting our stars has been part of their strategy.

I keep watching Canucks games hoping that one day one of the Sedins will snap and go apepoop. Would love to see one of them skull(frank) Marchand...

I don't think either has won any Cups recently, as in decades.

You're correct. Man, Canadian teams suck donkey balls.

Too much pressure to win now, as oppose to American teams that can rebuild properly thru the draft and then win. That's why I applaud Shanny for taking a step back and trying to build thru the draft instead of thru free agency.

You know, sometimes teams just aren't very good from the mismanagement of previous regimes or owners, see Chicago. I hate the word or thought of losing on purpose and IMO so does Trevor Linden, there's no tanking going on in Vancouver.

They are in desperate need of a Centre right now , Vrbata for a young Eller . There are plenty of teams looking for change now. A deal could be made within hours.

Benning knows this team is not good. He is doing the absolute right thing by doing nothing. Don't trade the youth . Don't look for quick fixes. Keep going down this road and accept the losses because it will be a high draft pick. He can blame the losses on the injuries and then doesn't have to explain this is what's best for the team.

He could put Higgins on waivers. When Higgins plays we lose. If he is not in the line up we win.

Call it what you want but Benning doing absolutely nothing is a form of tanking and it is the smartest thing he is doing.

You may think I am against what he is doing but I am in full support. I am just calling a spade a spade. But I do really dislike Higgins so it's hard for me to keep quiet

You do realize 3 of our 4 top Dmen are just average players. When we had them all in we were still losing

Montreal is thin and small at center, I don't see them trading Eller. I do see them trading prospects and picks though.

The type of player you want is Ryan Johansen, he's young and supposedly available. These types of players cost you boatloads, available centers, we don't have that available.

A rental player (Vrbata) is gonna get you other teams mid-level stuff, the Canucks organization needs some high-end players for the future, the way to do that is just continue to draft well.

He has, if I remember correctly he's publicly stated the team will go forward with the plan to build through the draft. But that doesn't mean they're gonna sellout and try to lose.

I don't want rentals . I am happy the road we are going down . I am just saying anyone who thinks JB is not doing a form of tanking is wrong. Call it what you may, but doing absolutely nothing to help fix a bad team is a form of tanking.

This. If we were to target a high end young player it should be a Dman as they take longer to hit their stride and we have plenty of youth up front.

exactly my point yesterday, the players don't have to buy in, they are playing for their careers, who would hire any player that tanked? they are professionals, but ownership and management don't have to do anything to help the team and they're not.

This is where trading the Sedins can really accelerate the rebuilding process.
