Great Blog Carol!
While Pedan's own goal was unfortunate, I feel he has a better game than both Bartkowski and Weber.. Biega definitely is a pitbull out there. |

I'd rather see Pedan in the line up the any of the other 3. Biega plays hard but offers no upside. He's at best a depth defender. While Pedan is a solid skater who can be extremely intimidating. Give his reach he has potnial to be a solid 2nd tier shutdown guy |

Pedan was chasing hits a bit too much. A lot of times he'd make the hit or miss and in both cases the opponent was beating him back to the net. Once he learns to pick his spots better I think he'll be a solid Defender.... or at least a guy that will make other teams play with their heads up a bit more. It's about time we have a defender that makes opponents pay the price a bit!!! |

We all know Weber is brutal but starting to get a bit concerned with Bartkowski...

It will change with time spent in the NHL. It's always about a speed adjustmentwehn players come up.
It is nice to have someone back there that will make opponents think twice. |

Pedan is at least a refreshing change from some of the soft midgets we currently have on defence. I'm looking at you Weber.
Beiga is a bit of a pitbull but the reality is that at 5'10", he isn't very effective clearing out the front of the net against the big strong forwards from LA, Anaheim and San Jose. Same for Bartkowski, a good skater with a good forward pass, but we need to get bigger and meaner on the blue line. Even Hamhuis, while a smart positional player isn't as effective as his hip check days are past.
The problems for our defence are compounded by the fact that we can't win a face-off and are constantly chasing the puck.
The team isn't deliberately tanking, but JB and Linden seemingly aren't trying to hard to fix the obvious issues.
And I'm okay with that. |

Absolutely... I'm sure his adrenaline was running pretty high. But big guys like him just need to stay close to the net and make it absolutely miserable for any forwards that come close. Hopefully he's a quick learner. |

Hank must be hurt, he had more sloppy passes than I've ever seen him make in a season long series of games... As a Kings fan I've always hated the Sedins but still respected the magic they work with the puck, especially between the two of them, but this is all you need to know about him and today's NHL - "[regarding the ref telling him it was a clean hit] The only mistake I made was not staying down longer. That's on me." H Sedin, taken from the LA Times. sad. |

It's sad that refs react to what the aftermath of a hit is rather than the actual hit. Was a pretty clear elbow... you'd think one of the refs would have seen that. |

We absolutely can turn away from these no show " vets "! Did you have a hard time hearing pedans name? Or biega? I'd even say Vey was a bigger asset to the team then Higgins an burrows. I mean seriously what are we payin them? 6.5-7 mill for the two of them....because 5 years ago they played hard for us? We can call up pretty much the entire comets team for that and they will play a hell of a lot harder for the money....cut the fat Benning you're on the right track, keep trimming |

B!! at least the league has the benefit of replay. refs can miss stuff from time to time, but the players safety department should be all over this one.... hitting a player from the blindside and targeting the head..... thought those were the two things they were trying to get rid of!! |

great blog Carol, I think the top 60 (first two rounds) is where you find the top talent so 47th with Taffoli is not too much of a stretch, but he looks unreal. Maybe we can get two second rounders this year instead of our usual zero |

Yep, he isn't the only one receiving cheap shots and has to embellish to get the proper call. refs can't care much, they pick and choose what they want to call to manage the game...
I wish the league would go back to 1 ref and make more room on the ice. If any infraction is that bad it will be reviewed later. |

Blatant cheap elbow to the head which McNabb has a history of. |

It is a shame that the amount of abuse the Sedins get on a nightly basis without much repercussion. They are hacked wacked every game. Cross checked. Blatantly punched in the face, finger pushed up their nose, elbows to the head but very little to no calls from our unbiased refs. I wonder if the Sedins were Canadian born would they be getting the same treatment? Ala Crosby? Do they need to cry every time to get the calls? |

it's true. they take it and don't cry about it or stay down, as Hank alluded to. I've always thought they were pretty tough players, as they get beat down so much and never retaliate much. Not something I could do, but I respect the poise. Rather a little more pushback though. |

That wrestling match where they held each other's sleeves so no one could get hurt? I guess you could call that a fight....Prust Atleast is noticeable, Higgins? Burrows? They provide nothing to this team anymore. If you won't trade / waive them then Atleast sit em in the press box until they show they want to contribute |
