I think Sedins Burr Hamhuis and Edler are the only ones with Full NTC /NMC . - VANTEL
Vantel....it's still really hard to move players of Higgins and Burrows ilk in this cap world, you need a buyer! You always make it sound like it's as simple as a flick of a switch, it absolutely is not.
At the trade deadline someone might take a flyer on Higgins but I guarantee you'll have to eat some money or take money back. |

Hey I'd love it if every thing just fell into place, but it rarely does. In my opinion Bo and McCann are at the very least four years from realizing their potential, I just think it takes that long.
The key is to get rid of some older contracts, or let them expire, and make some good signings. While still drafting well. - LeftCoaster
I agree with most of this but you can try to nudge some of them out the door a little sooner |

Correct, and I am sure Burrows and Hammer could be convinced to waive. - Retinalz
Moving Hamhuis and Vrbata is a no-brainer, Burrows, with one year left at 4.5 million, will be extremely difficult to move. |

Higgins is simple and has been suggested over and over here and in MSM , put him on waivers.
Burrows is harder . |

Just to set the record straight . I mentioned Ladd as an example. I don't expect him on this roster next year. His name is coming up a lot today . I used his name because he is a leader and good team mate. - VANTEL
And I keep using it because I see him as a good fit for helping our young guys a long. Though w/o a full list of upcoming and likely UFA's next year I wouldn't have anyone else to suggest. I would prefer Ladd to Lucic if similar money/term. Ladd may be a bit older, but more of what we need to help youth. I think Ladd(or someone like him) could teach players like JV a lot about being an NHLer and could help develop properly. |

Even waiving him means you have 1.6 million in dead cap space for next year, not good for business when I'd like then to sign guys like Ladd or Lucic. |

It gives Gaunce his roster spot . Same salary as keeping Higgins |

Yes it does, and I think he's earned a better look. I'm hoping they can move Higgins even if it's for a 5th round pick and they eat a bit of salary. |

Actually costs us more than it saves. we save 900k putting him in Utica and we only save 850k buying him out, only we put that cap hit over 2 years instead of 1
Edit: Higgins |

Nice tweak. Prefer Ladd over Lucic with this but I would take it. 4th may have issues though, but nothing less play time in tight situations couldn't remedy. |

I think Sutter should be with the twins. He lets them concentrate on scoring. He can handle the face offs and take care of the D end coverage. Let the twins hang out at the blue line. |

Think Demers would be available to play RHD in #4/5/6 roll next year? |

Not worth buying out Higgins . Then you have cap hit two years instead of 1 |

Putting him on waivers doesn't solve any problems
You would only get 900k relief of his 2.5m salary, and you would have to pay another player, who would probably count more then 900k against the cap. In the end you may end up with a worse player and a higher cap hit. |

I wouldn't mind getting Demers or Benn from them. Sign one of(in this order) Stamkos, Kopitar, Okposo, Boedker, Ladd, Staal(If he'd take a contract based off of his play in recent years instead of his name), Eriksson. For Defense Buf(if good price tag) otherwise Demers, Benn, Schenn. If we could trade Miller and sign Reimer . |
