Burrows actual salary is 3 million next year, which may make it easier to move him...just food for thought. - LeftCoaster
I doubt he waives for the desert or florida though. |

Putting him on waivers doesn't solve any problems
You would only get 900k relief of his 2.5m salary, and you would have to pay another player, who would probably count more then 900k against the cap. In the end you may end up with a worse player and a higher cap hit. - 1970vintage
It puts in a player like Grenier or Gaunce who costs about 900k. It gives them experience and I am pretty sure they could out score his two goals |

Not a Cup wing team but competitive. - LeftCoaster
Not sure how you can say that? We've never seen Gaunce, Grenier, Shinkaruk, Virtanen or Baertschi provide NHL level competitiveness. This looks like a disaster to me. |

I disagree, we've never seen either of them try and compete at the NHL level. You could get two weeks into this experiment and find that neither are ready or capable of handling it. |

Baer is getting better as the season rolls a long. Virtanen has much needed physicality. |

Not worth buying out Higgins . Then you have cap hit two years instead of 1 - VANTEL
thought if it was a smaller hit over 2 years, it might not be as bad. I don't know the details. |

They couldn't be any worse than Higgins. Worst case scenario is you bring Higgins up with a fire under hi a$$. |

who knows. thought Burrows was close to Luongo. If he is going to be on a losing team, why not in Florida over Vancouver? Less taxes in Florida too.
He might want out if he is feeling the heat. |

You haven't been paying attention, FLA is leading the Atlantic division, over the mighty Habs, Bruins, Red Wings, Lightning, Leafs... |

That bottom 6 you posted if laughably young. They would get physically destroyed in a nightly basis and any development would stop.
You need to have some vets for them to play with. Shink and guance can both be left in the a for another year without hurting their deception.
I don't think grenier is gonna make it and is rather have Dorsett, burrows and craknel rounding out the bottom 6 and helping the kids.
Other then that is a decent line up. |

Perhaps a disaster but I believe with their compete level, Gaunce and Grenier have two and three years of pro hockey under their belt, you'd have a decent bottom six.
Plus they both have NHL sized bodies, same with Virtanen. You control their minutes and situations. Shinkaruk is the wildcard but his game at the pro level has come around leaps and bounds. |

They've proven, at the pro level, that they deserve on opportunity. That's why they have training camp.
Small sample size I know but neither looked out of place in their few NHL games with limited minutes. |

Not wanting to give Higgins spot to Gaunce because of the unknown is like not wanting to give up you job at McDonalds to work at Red Lobster because it might not be as good. |

so why not Florida, as an option for Burrows, if they are a winning team then? you are right, they are doing well, 5th in the league. |

To me, which I wouldn't have said last year, Gaunce has proven that he can current provide what Higgins does on the ice. Plus, although he's not a fighter, he's a big body...6'2" 210lbs. |

Gotta think that Virtanen is going straight back to Junior after this Tournament. |
