Tanking is stupid. Its for teams who dont know how to draft.

Lets take detroit as example...when have they ever had a top 10 pick? think they were like 3rd in 1990 or something like that (....for memory) which I believe was Primeau.......(Van took nedved at #2, pens got jagr at #5)

They had succeeded well, won several cups and made POs something like 20 straight years. Again winning many cups in that time. Yet they consistently draft super stars. Datsyuk was like 5th rd or something. They didnt do it from top picks but actually low picks and proper development of those players.

Tanking is for clowns who have no clue what theyre doing.

I'm not disagreeing, however, perhaps you've heard of Steve Yzerman, Shawn Burr, Brent Fedyk or Joe Murphy?

of course....yzerman 1983 #4 pick

Thats 32 years back....previous to when I was mentioning. Its also not a #1 pick. Just TOP 10 which is very rare in detroit in last 25 yrs

I think retinalz said we could get 5 second round picks for vby and hammer.

Either way, I am not doubting bad trades have been made in the past. I just don't see gms drooling over a weak teams players in a weak division when everyone's stats are not jumping off their pages. I could be wrong come Feb 29th tho. I certainly hope and would be happy if we got half of what retinalz says we should get in return lol

Learn to read. I said 2 hammer and 2 Vrbata. That's 4 not 5. Ours would make 5.

Detroit has also had an amazing team of scouts and a GM that is great at assesing talent for that whole time period. Vancouver has never had that, if we do now then were at the beginning. I still remember Detroit being the worst team in the league, it's what landed them Yzerman and Fedorov. People will come back and say Lindstrom, Zetterberg, which is true those are amazing late draft steals, but el capitan Yzerman, much like Sakic, was topp 5 after they wait for it.....TANKED

Were not getting multiple for either, but I would be stoked if we did!

Did someone wake up on the wrong side of the bed today. OK so 4 second round picks. We will see come draft day. You are in a public forum, perhaps don't take someone posting their opinion to heart. #lifelesson

speaking of samuelsson, vrbatta reminds me of him when you consider the type of goals he scores and from the exact same favorite position too.

Gillia had many great moves...although not in the last 2 years he was here where ownership was overly involved and meddling.

Im surprised though that no one has mentioned signing hamius as ufa. That was a slam dunk probably more than any other single trade or signing he made during that time. He was huge for us in the cup run. Others were too, but this one allowed stability on the blueline. We lose in rd 1 against hawks wo him.

Can't give Gillis credit for Hamhuis. A monkey as GM of Vancouver could have signed Hamhuis. He just wanted to come back to BC.

true he wanted to come here.It was still a great signing under gillis. Malhotra also wanted to come here. Pretty sure most players dont sign somewhere they really dont like.

Does LA get a cap penelty now that they lost that case to RIchards (contract was unrightfully terminated right?)?
