I think this thread overvalues our players tremendously. Vrbata I would say is very much a second, but at this point in the season, and with Hammer's age, is he really worth more than Bieksa? Better question is, can you convince any of GM otherwise? The answer is probably no. I think we are all holding our breathe for Benning to sell all of these diminishing players but I think if you do, you will be highly disappointed. I am very much on board with the want to trade all of our aging players, but what makes anyone think that other teams are taking notes and wanting them? Lets try and be realistic here... For Once.....

hammer is two years removed from being picked for the olympic squad. In some circles, Yzerman for example, value him very highly. I think it could be that you undervalue some of our players too, as it often depends more on a GM. Some GM may still see Hammer as worth a 2nd pick, it's not that far fetched given his experience. He's a defensive d-man, lots of character. If put in a 4-6 role on a contending team, he could do very well. If you were talking about Higgins or Burrows I might agree with you, but I think Hamhuis' value is much higher than your perception.

I've got no problem with it. Tank away, lose with integrity. I give zero f's what we call it so long as we end up with our first two picks intact and our first rounder being a top-ten. Elite players come from those picks more often than not, I'd be into one more year of the same.
