Garth please stop writing about Sabres hockey. I am begging you from the bottom of my heart. You want the 5th overall pick + Nelson for Moulson for salary held? What makes you think Moulson will have chemistry with JT again? They've played apart for a long time now. How do you know they'll regain that chemistry? Ennis and ROR haven't regained there chemistry from that Spengler Cup. How do you know Moulson hasn't reached that point in his career where he belongs in the bottom 6? What you'd get for what your asking is probably John Scott and a go nowhere prospect. We are stuck with him until 1-2 years are left on his contract.
Who could've guessed Moulson would be this bad?
Me actually. When he was resigned I stated that the guy will not have another good season and this signing will end up biting Murray in the butt. |

Honestly? No. I doubt anyone would trade for Moulson with the horrid offense he's put up since returning to blue and gold. Do I think teams would want him? Yes, but they would wanna buy low and for sure no one is gonna pony up a major piece of any NHL ready starter on their current roster. Maybe they do get involved in a NYI-EDM-BUF three way trade yet they'd have to give some serious pieces to get anything of value. Maybe they move Ennis, Franson, Moulson and maybe even more just to get a player like Yakupov when all is said and done
Again I pick Yakupov because GMTM has said many times he's looking for LHD - Acup2buff
Oh man Yakupov isn't a... Oh forget it. |

Franson and Moulson could maybe get Nelson by himself. The Sabres would still have to eat some salary if I was GM Snow to make me want to pick up the phone. But I doubt that would be enough.
Sabres should trade Moulson, with a pick outside the 2nd round, to a team like Detroit for Kyle Quincey.. Or any LHD
Trading for Quincy or "any" LHD won't help us.
If we are trading for a LHD its gonna be for a young guy that has a good chance to be a top pairing guy with Ristolainen. Someone like Fowler. Quincey wouldn't even make our top 6. Right now Gorges, McCabe and Pysyk (Plays both RHD & LHD) would all rank higher then Quincey on the left side. Then we have Ristolainen, Bogosian and Fransoon the right side. |

If I was Murray I'd do the following...
Trade Ennis and Gorges for Rychel+
Trade Moulson+ salary held, Franson and a 3rd rounder this season for Nelson at the draft.
Sign Hamhuis to a 2-3 year contract.
Sign Yandle to a 3-4 year contract
Trade McGinn at the deadline then bring him back in the summer.
What do you guys think doable? |

If I'm Murray, I'm offering right D Cody Franson, he of the PP specialty, and Moulson in exchange for Brock Nelson and Michael Dal Colle
ok so lets get this straight. Moulson, who probably has one of the 5 worst contracts in the NHL and has negative value, and Cody Franson, a bottom pairing d-man on a good team for .... Brock Nelson, a 24 year old with 18 goals AND the isles best prospect, a kid that was a top 5 pick?????
I havent seen a blogger suggest such a lopsided trade since the Esplen/Cloutier days |

this is basically like saying franson could fetch nelson +, because moulson is a cap dump.
do you realize Nelson is putting up a 34g,19a,53 pt pace? one of Risto, ROR, Eichel, Reinhart,Kane or the sabres 2016 1st rd would have to be included for the isles to even consider |

Why would the Islanders trade you Nelson let alone for that package? I mean I cant tell if you guys are joking or not? Moulson+Franson and a third come on man. We dont want Moulson there's a reason why we traded him to you he has negative value. Franson sucks and if you think a third rounder helps this deal you're nuts. Nelson is going no where we just signed him to a very reasonable deal and if he ever did its not going to be for anything thats even close to the almost negative value trade you proposed. The only thing of any value in any way in your trade scenario is the 3rd. This thread is hysterical. |

You're a 100% right minus the top five pick part he was selected 30th. Also dont forget we'd have to throw MDC in to sweeten the pot. |

Maybe Tim Murray should call his buddy Garth Snow. Trading Matt Moulson back to Brooklyn may be the elixir that will cure the sickness that has befallen the left winger.
or, maybe you should buy him out.

Brock Nelson and Dal Colle for Moulson and Franson?!?!?!?! I have read some crazy stuff from you but this had to top it off. If we added Ennis and a 2nd it still might not be enough. - BatFan88
it wouldn't be enough. I'll just leave it at that.

Lmao at these trade proposals. Lee or Strome for Moulson? Nelson (who has almost 20 goals this season and is a stud) and Dal Colle (the Isles top prospect) for Moulson (an albatross the Sabres couldn't give away) and Franson?
Putting aside all the typos, this writer is just straight-up delusional. |

Guy you got to be calm.
I'm not screaming at you right?
Taker down a notch bud.
Also lets not overrate players. Brock Nelson could be had for that package add maybe a middle level prospect or another pick. And no you guys didn't get rid of him because he had negative value. You got rid of him because you needed salary and goals going to Buffalo in the Vanek trade. Also Franson's better then most of your D group outside of Hamonic, Leddy and Boychuck. Hamonic is as good as gone. That leaves Leddy and Boychuck. You guys won't get many free agent bites with the whole Brooklyn game day travel for home games. |

Moulson is like Goku. He's just playing like he can't fight. Wait til that 82nd game of the year...20 goals. Calling it.
And personally if I was choosing from people on the island, I'd go after one of their young D, not MDC. |

Nelson a stud? He's gonna be your run of the mill 20 goal scorers. Just like Ennis, and Ennis is no stud.
Strome hasn't proved anything yet. Very inconsistent.
Dal Colle is still trying to figure out how to make the pros at 19 years. Everyone but Fleury who's a defenseman in that top 10 has seen the pros. Just because he's your top prospect won't make him anyone else's. Pulock and Barzal are probably your best prospects IMO.
But yes indeed Garth is very delusional. I apologize on his behalf. "He called" the ROR trade so he thinks he's inspector gadget now. |

No he didnt, everyone and their dogs were saying that Buffalo and Avs could make a deal work. He also had blogs about Stastny, Duchene, MacKinnon....and any other C in the West.
If you make a trade blog about any and every notable player, its not really calling it |

Im completely calm. Why would we trade Nelson to begin with? How does that even make sense and how does a garbage player like Moulson and another one in Franson equal the value of a 24 yr old kid signed to an excellent contract on pace for 35 goals? I mean im guessing youre serious about this at this point which is mim boggling bcs I honestly thought you were kidding and yeah one of the best teams in the eastern conference in a brand new arena will have a hard time attracting free agents. Seriously listen to what you're saying.

Hes got 18 goals at the mid point of the season and hes nothing but a twenty goal scorer?
Man just stop this post couldn't be more wrong in every single way. You dont have any idea what youre talking about when it comes to the islanders. |

no, he couldn't. Isles didn't go to Moulson with an offer when he was a ufa because they didn't want him. Under that contract now, he's worth even less.
enjoy buying him out.

24 year old centers on pace for 35 goals are a dime a dozen and can be had for two garbage players. Man imagine what we could get for Strait and Zidlicky and a 3rd? |

I honestly don't understand why people have a hard time understanding that declinimg players on long term deals are worth nothing. Maybe we should be offering them grabovski. |

Except Nelson is already at 18 goals halfway through the season and is isn't a circus midget. Even if he did turn out to be "only a 20g scorer" he provides tons of value outside of his scoring production. |
