No, I didn't but ok. I defended him as a top pairing player. As in being there #2. I don't love Myers as much as I used to, but at this point there is no question who's been better since the trade.

I have long held that if this team were to win a cup, they would need a defenseman better than Tyler Myers on it. And I still feel that way. However, Myers has been the best player involved in this trade so far, and it really hasn't been close.

Yes, but not at a position of need. And at a cost that will impair our ability to maintain the position of strength and impair the ability to address the position of weakness.
- Der Kaiser

What position of strength does this team really have right now?

Seems like the obvious one, even if you count reinhart as a winger.

50/50 on goaltending being a strength with Lehner/Ullmark

O'Reilly, Eichel, then a combination of Girgensons and Reinhart doesn't count as a strength?

Stamkos is an upgrade to any single one of then.

It should get back there, we're seeing how bad cheap gas really is, and as much as everyone female doges about high gas prices, including me, it's even worse when they're too low. The Canadian TV and movie industry has been thriving for years now, granted Toronto has lost a few major network shows over the past 5 years, but that's just the nature of the beast. But Vancouver is the Hollywood of Canada. Anytime a TV show wants to show trees/forests, anything that's not a desert and scrub brush, or water that's not the ocean more than likely it's been shot in Vancouver.
- Wetbandit1

You are misinformed about the Canadian film industry . It went down badly when the Canadian dollar was strong . They want to get back to where they were . I know folks in Toronto that had business that benefitted from it Catering , Transportation and productiion companies.I think Trudeau is going to let it slide some more. Also it is stopping cross border shopping and actually Americans are starting to shop in Canada.

It's a question of marginal cost and marginal utility. The dollars can be better spent with bigger bang elsewhere.

You can't have every cool toy in the store . Stamkos is great but the amount of the cap he will take is prohibitive when building a well balanced team. Especially with the uncertainty of the Canadian Dollar and the salary cap

I wonder what round he would have been drafted in if he had this year last year? It looks like a late round steal now but I was at the prospects game last year and not sure if he played or not so I may seen him play but he didn't stick out from what I remember.

You sure? You bring this up 24/7. I'll bet you drove your mother nuts when you were a kid.

The only team that has the right to be arrogant enough to say that a talent like Stamkos is "prohibitive" is one who has actively won a championship. The Sabres are not in that category.

It's amazing what happens when I remember to set my roster. Unfortunately the guy I'm tied with 1st for will also win, so we're still locked into a tie.

You are incorrect even signing Stamkos to his demands in Tampa is prohibitive to the current cap , canadian dollar and putting together a well balanced team. We have to many holes to fill here . Let Toronto blow the wad on him.

This isn't David Clarkson. It's someone that scored 40 goals just last year.

We have too many holes and this could be a free agency could really fall in our favor . He will not give us a hometown discount it is going to cost Buffalo at least 11 million to sign him . Please try and be realistic . Tampa and Toronto are the two cities that might get him for less.

Exactly. Stamkos is a talent that should you have an opportunity to land him, you make it work. There is a very good possibility Stamkos has zero interest in coming here, and that's fine. However, if Tim Murray decides he is the one with zero interest in Stamkos, he is not a championship caliber general manager.

Hopefully he is the one with enough common sense not overpay for him . You listen to the fans demands for certain players . You end up sitting in the stands with those brilliant fans.

Do you think handing Stamkos an 8 year $80M contract is good for the long term health of the team?

Because making it work is going to take some serious work should they offer that and he actually signs it.
