Hopefully he is the one with enough common sense not overpay for him . You listen to the fans demands for certain players . You end up sitting in the stands with those brilliant fans.

The Hawks (who you compare us to) have two players on 10+ million dollar deals. They are making it work. That's the equivalent of Stamkos at 12 mil and O'Reilly at 7.5. When it comes to a superstar, you make it work

Purging the dead weight sure would go a long, long ways towards the making it work mantra.

I've seen the first 3.

First one sucked. Second one was very good. Third one was even better.

That was a reward for delivering 3 cups already to them . I am skeptical if they can make it work the next few years with the diving Canadian dollar and the prospect of the cap going down . Those contracts were awarded when the Canadian dollar was strong . Being in business I am looking at the big picture . Similar to the NHL I used to derive a great deal of our income from Canada . With the struggling Canadian dollar . I have had to reevaluate as NHL GM's must be doing.

It sure makes it easier on them when they can pull a Panarin out of their ass!

I have a difficult time with whether that is genius or luck. Probably equal parts both.

I think chicago will always compete and be in the playoffs having that core, but with two players taking up 2/7ths of the cap i dont believe they will be making cup runs year in and year out. Panarin was an absolute steal of epic proportion for them and crawford is having a career year. Just a month ago before they got hot they were in wild card area.

Obviously i envy chicagos position and would love to see the sabres turn out to be a team always in the playoffs so im not sure what im saying

If eichel turns out to be a 10mill player, and we have stamkos at 10-12, oreilly at 7.5 and risto at 6-7 that is your 4 players, you have 6 million that crawford makes to use on your 5th core player. You would have 30mil give or take a couple to fill 16 roster spots.

We will find out if chicaco can make it work.

We have too many holes and this could be a free agency could really fall in our favor . He will not give us a hometown discount it is going to cost Buffalo at least 11 million to sign him . Please try and be realistic . Tampa and Toronto are the two cities that might get him for less.

Meh, not as optimistic about free agency. The good-great players always get their money. The guys that slip through always have their warts. Franson, looking at you. Hoping the sabres land chychrun or one of the finnish wingers in the draft and trade for either a top 6 winger or top 4 lhd depending on whats left.

Could be different this year . Lots of teams will be cash strapped with the cap possibly going down . We will have cap space. Never know . Still counting on the draft.

I had heard that the first one sucked. I thought it was ok to pretty good. Maybe because I had lowered expectations for it; I'm not sure.

Do you think handing Stamkos an 8 year $80M contract is good for the long term health of the team?

Because making it work is going to take some serious work should they offer that and he actually signs it.

- kingcong39

I love Stamkos as a player
I don't see the fit though...

Part of ROR being unhappy w the AVs was supposedly being on the wing
And he's excelling at Center for us

And I don't think I want Eichel on the wing

So unless Stamkos wants to be a winger, I don't like the fit
An he supposedly was unhappy with being moved to RW in last year's playoffs

I've got faith that Ennis & Girgensons can will be productive again once they settle into their roles
And we've got a couple guys coming up that have a chance to be top9 wingers
Hopefully one of them can become a solid top6 guy

We're also very likely to get a top winger talent in this upcoming draft

Real deal? Trade bait? Ive never actually seen him play but the numbers are impressive.

But we have no good prospects since our beady eyed douche GM traded them all!

Why would we think that of most people's hero here, GM Murray?
He woefully overpaid Matty (purse swinger) Moulson.
Dat' cap hit for that player ...dat' cap hit.
If he can somehow weasel Moulson into some kind of trade to be rid of him, i'll be impressed.

But that's the thing - we aren't looking for great players in free agency. That's where teams get screwed. We are looking for the McGinn types.

This kid is a scoring machine. He is playing on a line with the WHL's leading scorer but Estephan has put the puck in the net even more. He seems to consistently produce even greater totals with every passing year no matter what league he's playing in. I have no idea what scouts saw in him to make him a sixth rounder, but the way he plays and consistently improves I would have figured him going in at least the second round. For a sixth, this kid is a steal. But, we do have our centers so I hope we bring him along slowly and let him develop his pro game in the AHL for a while.

Yes, I know Homie.
It appears that you, Bogosian and myself have a strong liking for Shepherds.
I have had them my entire life now, I would never want another breed.
Which is the only thing that I seem to like about Bogosian thus far.
