As far as trade rumors, I heard one yesterday that caught me so off guard, I will hold off on relating it here, as it contradicts some there things I've heard. But i am digging for more on that. - jb3333
Honestly if we could trade that for Saad I'd rather do that to acquire Hoffman. |

Having Shaw as #1LW is going to exhaust him with the style he plays. Having him in the bottom 6 creates matchup problems for opposing teams. - Dabearshawks
Agree DBH...love Shaw on the lower lines because of his game and that creates matchup problems big time. |

No doubt Hoffman is a quality player-- but Saad is money with 19-88 |

Everyone needs to realize that the minute CBJ gave Saad that contract, he is not able to return to Chicago.
CBJ isnt giving him right back to us without a massive overpayment on our part and they arent retaining a decent chunk of salary for 5 years, they are not a money franchise. Hell, they took david clarkson so they can have a player play that they are paying for, no matter how terrible his contract is. They couldnt handle paying Horton to retire
There is no room for Saad in the coming years with all the extensions kicking in and the new contracts needing to be handed out, especially with the canadian dollar just dumping the bed.
Sorry guys, literally no realistic scenario where it happens, even if they take Bickell and scuderi, it only solves the cap issues for this year and next, not for 2,3,4,5 years down the road, it just eats the cap space we need |

JJ did say the rumor he heard caught him off guard so that MUST mean the Hawks are looking to reacquire Morin |

You are not positive that the cap will grow after next year? Bettman has a plan, I trust him.

All true-- Unless a major salary chunk is removed from the Hawks cap-- or going back in the trade-- Look I know they are very long odds for a Saad return-- However-- it was mentioned by Elliot Friedman a couple weeks ago-- and sounds impossible-- and along with JJ's shocking rumor-- This would certainly be a shocker-- and all about win NOW in 16 & 17--

Hey let's wake up and smell the coffee Saad is not coming back. The Hawks cannot bring in any salery over approx 3m for next year. |

Outside the box thoughts-- a few ex Hawks executives are struggling now in their GM tenure-- Specifically Bergevin in Montreal and Chevy in Winnipeg-- then consider the challenges Yzerman is having in Tampa and his 'special' relationship with Scotty-- It would seem the Hawks might be in dialogue with former colleagues-- They are all under the microscope and the lights are on--
No one is going to do the Hawks any 'favors' but Chevy certainly benefited when the Hawks had to dump salary / players after the Hawks Cup wins-- and gave up next to nothing for a few 'core' players to launch the Jets
They are all struggling to win / negotiate contracts for star players and manage the cap-- Meanwhile the Hawks model is working with retooling around the core and plugging in less expensive talent--
I don't think Drouin helps the Hawks now-- I think either Ladd or Byfuglien DO help now as rentals-- Bergevin needs something to go his way to stop the Habs free fall-- |

So that would mean no Buff....Yes the Hawks could bring in a player making over $3 million they'd just have to make cap space or have the opposing team retain salary. |

Panarin for Boedker, a 1st and OEL with Arizona retaining salary would be the only way I'd trade Panarin. |

I think the contradiction lies not in who the Hawks may want, but rather what they would be willing to give up.
My guess is that TT is the chip who may in fact be moved, even if for a rental. From where I sit, that would be a good indicator of how serious the FO is about going for it. |

I wouldn't doubt that is the case-- |

I am still hoping JVR is coming over . He is the idea fit for the HAWKS !!! Checks all the boxes . Dano Bickel Pokka and 2 1st will get it done ,Leafs could throw in Polak . |

JVR is out till April I think with a significant injury. Don't think Stan is doing any retro Hawk this time around, prolly someone completely different. |

That's what I'm thinking too. Trade Targets may be the same but a certain roster player like Teuvo may have to be shipped...unfortunately. |
